Emotions drive the story, and knowing where those emotions are coming from is essential to developing a character. Loki is actually competing for the spot of most developed/deep character in the series, and he's only been with us for a little while. All of the readers KNOW who Loki is. I would say Tang Li Xue is the most developed, but precisely because she has no emotional drives, when forced to ask who she is, what she's doing, what she wants... what is her character? Nothing comes to mind. The most intimate desires I can remember her expressing were to become a diety and have concubines. tsundere might be her main characteristic. Perhaps incompetent is the other only solid part of her character. Other than that she's been running from arc to arc, doing pretty much whatever the author tells her to. I would love to see her character develop and actually follow based on who she was in the past. The whole not abandoning child/Loki thing because of her own circumstances was fantastic. Could've been written slightly different/better, but it added to her character. Emotions, as long as they are driving the story, are always, always welcomed.
