I found the flashback perfect length wise

I think the flashback had a good lenght overall. I would have liked to get some more Eric/Cerlius interaction before, though, cause while the betrayal was probably prette bad for Cerlius, I felt I was not that fazed by it at all

going forward, I want to see how the different selves of "Doevm" realign and coalesce into one being again or will we be dealing with the mortal, the lich, and Cerlius... with Larque being the bandaid holding them all together...

So is that where doevm’s interest in being a knight and using martial arts came from?

the flashback was just about right for setting up what's about to happen. it fits well with the context and leaves enough room for the very anticipatory event to come, thanks for the chapter

You could have just said that the countdown needs to be reset. No need to rush yourself, just to make it fit.
