I am sure the parts showing the Insectiod Empire is building up to something, but I don't really care for them. I believe the issue is that we don't really know much about the characters there. I suggest the author spent more time on the characters in the Empire so that readers would care more about them.

We have now the explanation for the gigantic spider shadow about Sophie granting her improved eyesight during the aftermath of the fight against the three-headed snake and we already knew that Sophie is a worthy heir due to the seal on her mother. I wonder how the empress wants to help her daughters exactly
