Sounds like someone plotted to put young Almina in a dangerous situation, then swoop in to "rescue" her to earn the Amulet family's favor. MC's actions almost ruined their plans, so they must've set up MC as a fall guy and tossed him to some mad scientist's lab. What amazes me is how Almina can recognize MC from almost a decade ago yet not know the things that happened to him in that time. The yandere complex is also strange.
