I appreciate the response, and I'll try to rephrase my confusion to avoid spoilers. According to prologue, this is in fact at the very least, his 3rd life. I say this because it's implied by his comment on restarting twice already. Thank you for the hint but it only confuses me more. If I assume you mistyped in the prologue so he has only restarted once, fought in ascenders trial twice, then I can accept your hint that this isn't his 3rd life. If prologue is indeed correct and he has restarted twice before choosing the unannounced option then he has competed 3 times already. Maybe I'm looking at this to hard, I'm finding it difficult to digest the lack of concern your starting he had on his last attempt. I could accept that mentality on his first run, before the restarts, but to have reached a point to spend MTP to restart, you'd imagine he knew how serious it was on his last attempt and wouldn't have ignored things to the point someone had to die for him to kick into gear. I just feel that the premise of multiple reincarnations doesn't fit the story or character. What I mean is, the story would actually flow better if he was currently on his first restart or if he only had one previous restart that was gifted via Fatty or Layla in his first life and he wasn't fully aware of things on his restart. This also allows the concealed memories to be from his first life. I'll be continuing to read in the hope that some of this is clarified. Thanks for writing
