I really like this. A well-thought out energy system. I hope we get to see more of this in the future, as well done info dumps are great for immersion in bigger world's like this one in my opinion. I wonder how exactly this works though. Did I understand correctly that the point rune is a sort of node and energy cell for the overall aether spell/rune? So if one would want to later modify it, would one change the code of the smaller runes, or would it be more straightforward to create a network of point runes with different functions and make them synergize?

It's nice to have a couple of laid back chapters where Jake can experiment and advance his techniques.

jake being a kid throwing a tantrum is cute and annoying. the same thing i said some hundred chapters a ago apply here, he doesn't even try to get better when it concerns human interactions.
