Why be arbitrary about it? As long as logic is there, a good and nice dynamic of relationships and all... Why be so stuck up on monogamy in the novel when even our history has had less monogamy then polygamy? Just because you read a bunch of shitty novels doesn't mean others will be too...

Couldn't care less if this is turned into harem or not... as long as the way it is written is good and the result satisfying, why be arbitrary about it? Also... monogamy is something fairly recent... Polygamy was accepted in countless societies in history. (Most of the reasons for monogamy like in inheritance issues and infighting)
