I'm super late to the party, but I'll put this here in case some future readers see it. i saw people saying that it's a plain reason or some such about ysnay's betrayal, but if you think about it from all the information we've been given up to this point, mc= over 200,000 years old, ysnay= over 100,000 years old, this chapter talks about how all or almost all immortals are looking for someone to spend eternity with. So it shouldn't be hard to imagine how much that would hurt if you finally find the person you've been looking for the entirety of your existence, and less than a day later, the same person you finally found literally murders you because she can't control you. It's pretty easy to imagine why he doesn't trust her now right! As the saying goes ⬇️
