Wow. what an incredibly sad story. Just an innocent girl trying to have friends. If Marlow didnt sleep with other men then why couldn't her husband have enough trust in her to believe her. Why did he have to hurt her, especially in front of the children. Hits very close to home. It's very damaging to see this kind of interaction between your parents especially when as a young child you are old enough to know better but too young to do anything about it. No wonder Emily did the things she did. I'll fault her for hurting others but I cant fault her for wanting to. I know what this kind of abuse feels like and I can't say I fault her for hating others she has perceived to have hurt her. However the blurred lines are more clear than you can imagine and at least for me its all in how you chose to carry yourself. Revenge is simple, forgiveness is the more difficult route. At the end of the day forgiveness, though reluctant, set me free and it can set her soul free as well. I'm sorry Emily that you had to see the ugliness that humans have in them but know that it isnt your fault and it had nothing to do with you.
Two people who didn't have any friends became friends, but the girl got obsessed with the boy just because he's nice to her and her mother encouraged her to get acquainted with wealthy people ina hope that it will secure her daughter's future. However couldn't say if what she did was right, at the same time it couldn't be considered as wrong either. Poverty push people to do extreme things. I believe the obsession of Emily to Graham lead her to kill Graham's wives. she might have poisoned the first two. If you remember she was the maid who were assigned to accompany Lisa, which would say how Lisa died from a small fall from the chair. But again, based on the previous chapter this girl should be elder than Graham. it's so confusing.
That was a sad, troubled story of the Saltonstalls; even hit me some things in the heart. Emily may be innocent; but as she had grown up and her mind got twisted bc of her family's circumstances, she still has to take responsibility for the crime she has committed to the Reeds. She took the empathy and kindness shown to her by Graham in a "misunderstood" way; bc he was the only one who have shown her to be treated that way. Maybe it became an obsession for her to always want next to Graham. Going to the present, is she still alive or is already dead? Have to wait for the continuation of the Saltonstalls' story til tomorrow's update. Thanks for this gripping story of a chapter, Ash. ❤️😘😊
What a sad back story...Marlow must have love her family So she diDnt want them to suffer or go to bed hungry...i know its unethical thing to do but sometimes we must believe our loves ones and tried harder in life not to let them feel less..i dont know..from this chapter i get that Marlow is a good mother to her daughters and the only flaw she had was being a companion to rich men that soiled their family’s name..BUT despite all these things what triggered the family(the Reed’s) to kill Emily? As if the whole family was into it...cant wait for the next chapter Ash! Your books are always brilliant Ash-san ♥️
