With "Mr Tycoon's Daring Wife," the readers attacked the writer over a plot twist that they didn't like. The author took two weeks off in utter distress at the abuse and obscenities hurled at her. The author was 17, almost 18 years old. She came back after a mental health break and ended that novel in 60 seconds. She cared so little after the attack that she left characters and entire story lines out of the ending. There was a final date for the ending, but it was extended daily as readers reminded her about hanging storylines. A great story ended as incoherent disregard because of vicious readers. The readers made that girl hate the story she dreamed up. I know. I was one of her editors. With 'The Villian's Wife,' the author is a young mother of a teething toddler. She put her son to bed, then after she and her husband retired, she got up once he was asleep and she cranked out 1 or 2 chapters. I had to work in London, so I set my alarm at 5 to edit before I had to go to work. As she had no stockpile of chapters, WHICH IS TRUE OF MANY WRITERS OF ORIGINAL NOVELS, I often had to edit chapters while standing face to armpit on the Tube, or under the table during conference calls in order to meet her posting deadlines. This author lives in the Philipines. During storm season people didn't ask how she was doing with a teething toddler and no electricity or WiFi. Instead, they harassed her and abused her verbally because she didn't post because the storms knocked out the power and WiFi. I was reading another novel and the author very clearly explained in the author's comments that she has a baby/toddler and that her job, childcare, and Covid complications meant that she had to deviate from her regular posting schedule to ensure that she was financially secure and that she and her child were safe from Covid. Readers blatantly ignored her really kind and apologetic author's notes and talked about her like a dog for not posting on time. She abandoned that book and focused on another bookage was writing whose readership wasn't comprised of greedy, spoiled children demanding something for nothing with zero concept of real life responsibilities. Perhaps some of you are young. Perhaps some of you believe that writing in this app is a highly paid job. That is not true. The free coins that you use, as well as the free passes, are not revenue for the authors. Authors only see money when you pay to read with coins that you paid money for. How often do you see the comment: 'I ran out of stones so I can't read '? Every post like that represents an avid reader whose support does not equal money in the bank account of the writer. There is a pandemic, and reinfection is recurring throughout Asia and the US where most of the writers are based. People are not working so spouses and partners are not bringing any income home. Child care is closed worldwide, so people are trying to write while entertaining small children who are fed up and want to play with their friends outside, which could be deadly. Some people and/or their partners aren't being paid or working at all. They are writing in hopes of some of their readers paying for coins. Many writers are behind in rent payments. Many are hungry so that the weaker people in their families can eat enough to stay healthy. People are worried about their elderly, their sick relatives, and their children, yet you have no qualms about slapping your fat, entitled, selfish thumbs on your phone to demand new chapters and complain about lags in release times? Frankly, you people demanding chapters are greedy, selfish, self-centred users. I wouldn't write another chapter for greedy soulless users such as the likes of you if I were a writer. Who needs an abusive fanbase like you lot? Back the h*ll up off of this author and every author you're bullying for chapters before they drop the books because they're fed up with the demands and abuse. Walk over to your window and look at the state of the world outs
