I'm amazed of the mind and emotional control Lothaire had! He knows how to play the game and made Irene confused,and close to giving in to all his pleas.. But he need to take Heaven as assurance that Irene won't do something stupid once they are together. He probably want them as family..the kind of family he never had. And he's close to getting Irene back.

Lothaire is so calculated, deliberate, and precise. He clearly has a well thought out plan to obtain his ultimate prize — Irene, “alive, safe, and by his side”. If he wasn’t the devil, everyone would be impressed by his logical prowess. Lothaire has dropped a few hints of his intentions during their conversation. I hope Irene can sort them out and see right through his scheme. I also hope she realizes soon that she is the ace card and can be the one to make Lothaire’s world crumble.

I dont get why needs Heaven if Irene is offering herself willingly? Irene would stay as long as Heaven is safe! Dont quite get his logic. Hasnt the bond between them broken?
