the best red herring would be that heaven and earth could only be a conduit after separating, only being able to give energy to others but not actually advance themselves and that's why they collected so many assets. so instead of creation of energy they could only disperse and ends up being the weakest person they've fought only because everyone's been so afraid of the energy output.
