Then needs to find a way to get out and reach his home to find out about his mom and master. Then formulate a plan to keep his mom safe by escaping with her or some other way and try to save his master as well.

Handhold corrections chapter 52 (feel free to not use) "could last as a handhold enough for his hand" to " could last long enough as a handhold for his hand to reach a rock/handle deeper in the hole."

strings could work but usually, when you tear clothes and are talking about larger strips of clothing (assuming you are), you'd call them 'rags' not 'strings' if you do mean extremely thin strands, strings would work.

As much as I understand the logic of this happening, I really hope he doesn't come back to his mother being either almost beaten to a pulp, or killed. Just because i think that it's quite sad. But i guess it would be necessary to fully set him on his path
