Madam Liu's "perfect" image for her children is turning them into a mess. Her son is having an affair with a married woman while her daughter is forcing herself to do the things against her will. Madam Liu might become crazy once she knows about her children especially her son. For Yu Yanwan, she is really stupid and...crazy. If her husband is not that smart, why not hire some experts to teach her husband? Practice and teachings will make him eventually learn. If she and her husband are dumb, then there is no point of inheriting her parents' wealth because money vanishes easily if you don't know how to manage it.
I think Parents and children should have enough understanding and trust that parents should be happy about their children's choice of life partner. That's the job of parents to teach how to choose the right partner. Afterall it's really the lives of children. Parent should be supportive but shouldn't be deciding their future. You cannot hand hold ur children forever. But I also think just love is not enough to sustain a relationship for lifetime. More than love respect and trust and understanding matters. Because frankly the butterfly in stomach syndrome or honeymoon phase lasts first 5 years .. for the rest 50 years.. it's the understanding and respect that carries the relationship.
