Hmmm Iâm glad she finally let her mom know how she feels... and the timing is quite right too. A lesson to us all, donât take others for granted, assuming that they are strong. We humans do need companionship, a sense of belonging and security. Love is more about giving than receiving... but you know if we all start giving at some point weâll all receive. A bit long, Thanks for the chapter!
Sigh. I always found this chapter quite bittersweet even more so with all the knowledge and insight we gained into Maria and Freddy. This chapter, we learn Maria had no mother growing up but had plenty of aunts, uncles and of course Ron and Gable. The lack of a mother means Maria is fumbling into motherhood. The ONLY child of the great hero and the only part is stressed. Because the life of an only child lives is quite different from those with siblings. She got all the attention of her father but mentions being lonely. Always waiting after him to come home and while Ron is OP strong, it still doesn't mean there isn't that constant fear of losing him in a battle or being left behind. Maria is also forever within his shadow and the countless amount of suitors and fake friends would have made her quite bitter. Wondering if anyone out there will see her as Maria and not Ronald's daughter. Earlier chapter mentions Maria having poor grades in subject which raises a question into Ronald's parenting. Was Maria well equipped to blue blood society? How did she manage to integrate in this culture? The noble and commoner divide is quite well-known and this girl coming from a Nouveau Riche family whose father only became rich due to heroics and world travels. Nobles are masters at double-talk and scheming in the backs. The constant whispers and nitpicking must have been crushing for self-esteem. But Maria grew into herself, gaining friends (real ones) and secure in her parent's love. But thinking about it, is it any wonder Maria fell in love with Freddy? Rude, yes but always honest so different from those suitors who only wanted to get close to Ronald and the prestige he brought. But the most important sentence : He was my rock, always stable and holding me up in the turbulent seas. Ronald has massive wanderlust. Rosalia states her grandfather staying for 3 years straight was wow. Maria being his child might mean he took less trips but maybe he wasn't always around. Freddy, on the other hand, was always there. Always came back. But we also see here what caused part of Rosa's complex in the 1st timeline. Thinking her first born will be strong as her father and husband. While her youngest was sick and needed all her care and love to live. Now though, Maria knows Rosa needs her too. I understand why readers will have a hard time forgiving Maria and Freddy for the emotional neglect Rosa went through. The maids in charge of Ro are the ones to blame for her starvation. But UT is a second chance at life for Rosalia and that means a second chance for everyone touched by her butterfly effects. Adults though they are, that doesn't mean they stopped growing. It doesn't mean they cant change. Good luck Maria. You're going to need it dealing with your tsundere, stubborn genius daughter.
Whew, I'm reading this for the 2nd time yet I still feel myself almost tearing up. This was one of my favorite chapters in terms of feels. The different perspectives really are amazing. People tend to think the strong will always be strong and focus more on the weak. It's a universal thing. Well Rosa, your motion sickness that day will evolve into ur scary scary mother clinging onto you. I guess that's the attention you aimed for previously. Too bad you're gonna keep running away from it. Scary scary Maria. Alright, won't spoil more for the readers, have fun!
