The fact that Prince Yi has no answers just shows that his pursue for the throne is driven by his own selfish desires. Perhaps he was once a good person and was corrupted by the intrigues and power play of the palace but it's time to take accountability of his actions. Others exposed to same situation or circumstances might have chosen to cut ties from the palace but he chose to conspire against his brothers and is becoming like the father he despised.

I think it would help Kai, if he had a true heart to heart with his brother.
