I really bad for Damien with more his character is unenveloped . Considering she is just a slave he treats her way better than other vampires . If it for someone else taking Penny in what are the guarantees she would have run away even if we dont consider Robarte. Other vampires aren't any good when it comes to treating slaves properly... What Damien do is bully Penny for his amusement plus vampires have their trust issues so we can't just expect them to fall in love at first sight . Love isn't a simple concept as depicted in cliche novels . Vampires need a sense of security when it comes to a partner so it's a slow process of falling in love.. I do agree with Penny human rights and want of freedom too but she is all alone in world how much she could guarantee she could be safe after running away ,isn't her trip to slave establishment a lesson plus that inn keeper who Dami killed plus with witches present even a pureblood vampire isn't save . I hope she starts trusting in Damien .... That's why I liked the character of Heidi ,she was the most understanding type of FL and knew the reality of world rather believing in sweet reality shown at outside...
