Alright... 1) If it's not the sound wave you "hear" then it's not hearing. You can't "hear" 30m away from you if the sound wave stops before it reaches you. You can magically sense it with you 42nd sense if you want, but you can't hear it. 2) Do you know how muscle works? If all your muscle pulled at the same time, you won't be stronger, you would be in pain and paralyzed, unable to move. Just imagine folding and unfolding you arm at the same time, all the muscle pulling on you forarm all decided to pull at the same time. You know what 100% brain "capacity" means? It means you just recalled every single one of you memories at the same time, and tell your body you are hot and you are cold, you are in and you are out all at the same time. You'll get a seizure, that's what you'll get. Do you know what's overclocking? It's not using over 100% it's clocking it faster. Not making it take more load because it's impossible, you just make it do it faster. Which is why you train reflexes instead of your brain for a lot of sports. You bypass the brain, you don't think, you react, because the more active your brain is, the more time it's gonna take to respond. You know what happens when you just push your processor to work at full capacity? The tasks get slowed down. Going 100% with your brain is getting a seizure and have extreme delayed responses. I would not have made this comment if you did not try to justify it with bull****, because it's your novel and you can do whatever you want with physic and biology in your novel. HOWEVER, if you try to justify it realistically, just dont. Either you have done some research before hand, or you just own it and say, well, realism is not your main concern while writting this novel, it's a novel about fighting aliens, folks, not the franco-prussian war.

Ahhh... another of those 10% bullsh!t... We use 100% of our brain. If we didn't, that part would be discarded through evolution, seeing as how our brain uses up a tremendous amount of energy, and keeping unused stuff would be an evolutionary disadvantage (energy efficiency is selected for). It's just that we don't use all of it at the same time. On the other hand, different areas do different things, so 100% usage at the same time is also... improbable. Example: Sleep paralysis is brain-regulated. If you would use 100% all the time it follows that you would be paralyzed all the time.

I remember loving this story back when it was at Royal Road... I have to admit, I felt angry when you transferred here; but that was selfish of me seeing that I was only angry because of my horrible expereinces with this site. I feel happy that you're peaking here! This story has been at the back of my mind recently and I think its time for me to do away with my immature grudges.

I was about to drop the novel when the 10% brain usage was mentioned. Lucy was an entertaining film, with an old and flawed premise. You can train the brain to be better and to increase your abilities. Looking forward to reading more.

It's false that we only use 10% of the brain, but it's true that we only use a few parts of it at the same time, and we dont use it at the max intensity or effeciency. The Elephant's brain it's several time bigger that ours but they're not smarters than us, i'm not and expert so i can only expeculate, but this can be because we have more conections on ours neurons or we get a lot more juice from it. Effectively using a better % of the potential of the brain or what a brain could be.

Not using all of the brain has been proven wrong but it makes novels better so whatever
