Rape turned to love does not work in the real world. There was a time period in America where a lot of novels had this theme. It sends a subconscious message to women that they need to put up with it and get over it. That being said, either try to go with the novel or stop reading it. Though he didn't rape her,he didn't sense anything wrong with her in the first place if she was drugged or not and upon realizing his mistake he came back to accept it,how many men in his power position can do that,rather they will use their influence and take wat is there's, wat a good man he is,I so adore him sincerely, he will do anything in his power to put things right that wat real men do and not use their power to oppress others,wat can his death do nothing, even if he is killed wat happens to his son how can his son stand among his peer being the son of a rapist,I wish such good men really exist
Yes he is a rapist, although at the time he was hoodwinked into as he was told she was a gift which he thought meant a prostitute. He should never have had sex with her even under the misunderstanding as she was not conscious and when she was it was to late, she never objected but again we know it was drug induced but he didn't. None of this was her fault and she is definitely a true victim and in some ways so is he because he had no clue. In a court of law with a excellent lawyer he could be found not guilty because of the fact he was duped. Had he administered the drugs himself or knew about it then no way out. He getting tortured might be a heavy sentence then what he would get if he went before a court. Especially with all his families money. He definitely should have told her his side and asked for her forgiveness before threatening her. How could a women ever trust or believe someone she has been raped by?
From his perspective mistake sex and hers which is rape obviously they r not on the same page so why marry someone who is on two different pages that is a recipe for a failed marriage and relationship within the marriage. He may have assumed and mis judged the situation and this rape was not intentional but he still did so I would not make it easy for him besides both parties r dealing with the after effects of the accidental rapes it's still rape either way it goes
