If all it does is speed up the absorption of essence and learning techniques then how is it any different than any of the rest of those systems? It's literally the same thing, the author's just been a little obtuse about it and called it something special sounding. This literally has nothing to do with karma... It's a generic "I make you very strong" system with the missions disguised instead as things you do for "good karma".
