ngl, that was a kinda predictable result. I appreciate the fact that, like irl, people dig their heels in and don't change their minds as soon as there's evidence to the contrary. Especially since their perspective is so understandable. Given everything they know, they are currently doing the right and just thing to save the world. Good job writing complex, human(t) characters dude!
I wish she had been a little more practical in the negotiating. Perhaps point out precisely the number of inhabitants that lives thanks to the colony, specifying the number of elderly, children, women and men that lives in both cities and to pout out the FACT that without the ants they will all die to the next wave - which by chance is already coming - and that he KNOWS all this. Explain that he will kill everyone by doing this and that these people will be fighting for their families and not just for the ants.
Hmmh, I stopped reading paragraph comments in this chapter. Awful negativity. When people are brainwashed to think in one way, they will think it is normal. This is about the legion if you are wondering. Same way as the Arabs wearing burkas or whatchamacallit. If you check the pictures from the 80's, they do not wear em. Now they do, and cant be without them because they have been taught that way. Same way Americans are hard believers of 2nd amendment, and in my opinion that is the reason for so much violence and deaths in USA. And so on, and so on, all over the world. SO THIS IS COMMON WAY FOR HUMANS TO TEACH THINGS. If you don't know anything else, so the way you were taught must be the best way. Everyone does this, every day. So please, sit back and enjoy the Show: The Colony is correct, they just want to live in peace and multiply. The Legion is correct, so far there has ALWAYS been betrayal from 'monster' side, they follow the ancients and go against the 'sentient races'. So Legion does it's best to kill em, but nobody is perfect and the branches survived. Sophos survived. Maybe others. It seems like the legion is not very good at what it does eh? As for the colony, now imagine that tomorrow morning some 2-4m tall ants will start crawling through a hole in you front yard. What will you do?
The thing is that everone has too much resolve and determination on both sides. Nobody is willing to compromise because both sides come from too distant of a world. The Colony and the Legion. Sapient monsters and worshippers vs. hardened and loyal monster exterminators. Morr is the only one who has bridges both sides, but if she is still indecisive about her own situation how can she convince others to do the same. I think Morr will be the only one to defect and it will be in a moment of chaos and violence that she cannot avoid. The only chance she has to make this choice is when she stops thinking about the risks and lets her emotions take over, which will only happen in this upcoming battle. Probably she will instictively save someone she knows in the battle from either Titus or a Legionary, and at that point she will have made her decision. I don’t know what will convince the Legion that the Colony is good, but I would say the only thing is a LONG time where the Colony doesn’t degrade to baser monsters, then maybe the Legion can open their minds SLIGHTLY. They are set in their ways and an alliance is very unlikely in this moment/in the near future. Survival till the wave strikes is the name of the game here. That will be the deciding factor of whether the Colony can hold out until then. That is the only way to escape destruction by the Legion and Golgari.
