Cuttlefish That Loves Diving
Demoness died for love. Conspirator died by loyal. Visionary never exist. Scholar of ancient be betrayed in history. Traveler died when he came home. And deceiver keep his word.
At the end of Volume 7 author summarised the volume, I will put a brief translation here. In fact, normally speaking this volume should have 30 to 40 more chapters. Klein gradually eliminates interferences, manipulates his marionettes fate until he fully prepared to ascend to rank 1, during this period authors can expand side character’s story to make the plot better. Later on author changed his mind, he believes this is insult to the villain’s intelligence, Zaratul won’t sit there waiting to die, Adam and Amon also won’t wait for Klein to level up smoothly by only doing small attempts to stop him, it’s not like playing video game. They only need to create one chance then do a full attack, or release Mr Door when Klein is levelling up so he is unable to disrupt. Once the chance appears it must be a big storm, a full explosion, doing their best to achieve the goal. This is why at the end of volume the speed is up, after Adam involved in the matter the outcome is inevitable. It is at the right moment, the right people doing a right choice, Klein cannot decide when his enemies going to attack. This is reasonable. This volume’s name is The hanged man, it has two meanings from tarot card. First, sacrifice oens elf or pay the price. Second, if you are cornered, don’t struggle effortlessly, change an angle, and calm down, wait for your chance. For first point in this volume, Roselle, Mr Door, and ASG from background story sacrificed themselves, Alger paid for his price, as well as Klein, Adam and the True Creator also paid price but not very obvious. If Adam and the True Creator want to merge together, then both of them need to give up part of themselves, they need to pay the price. The last scene the Cross and the hanged man hinted for this. For second point, there were couple of things happened in this volume, the most obvious was Klein’s move when he was captured. But more important in chapter “I” changing angle to see things and change the way of thinking, Klein gain more godhood but still remain human nature. In addition Alger’s dilemma and decision, also how Adurey dealt with Psychology Alchemist were all belong to this category. Authors seriously considered killing Alger and Fors during Mr Door’s arc, but he found out Alger has a mission to explore west continent, so author has to let Alger to live but give up his past and rank. As for Fors, she is too lazy to a degree author doesn’t know how to push her to adventure. When story progress to this point, all characters have their own will, choice and fate, when all these intertwined together to become a huge wave, it means the ending is near. As an author he can’t say this is the best, but he respects it. Two more things author wants to add. First is Mr Door, his sacrifice was long foreshadowed, so when the time comes author only used a couple of actions and one sentence to portrait, nothing more is needed, Mr Door’s choice says all. Second is Zaratul, author originally wished there will be a big battle at the end to close the volume. But after Klein ranked up with Roselle’s backstab, there was really zero chance for Zaratul to turn over. Author doesn’t’ like to add recall before villain’s death, he pitied a mystery character such as Zaratul didn’t have enough story to build the image up. This is also the issue author wants to solve in his writing. Bosses are always overpowered in setting, so they don’t have too many opportunities on stage, this cause their characteristics lacking, and hard for author to create impact and explosive scene when they conflict with MC. Author hopes Amon will bring something different. The last volume name is the Fool, this story started with Clown and will end with the Fool.
With two Attendant of Mysteries characteristics, I would imagine that he is equivalent to a fairly powerful deity in Sefirah Castle, which should help him contend with Amon, especially now that Adam/ASG seems to be preoccupied with the True Creator. Man, I remember back when Sefirah Castle was known only as "The Grey Fog", and it was just a transmigrator cheat that could be used to miraculously escape the influence of a sequence 5 sealed artifact. And it was so impressive that it managed to withstand the impact of scrying a God. A sequence 3 Ince Zangwill was like the ultimate machiavellian villain at the zenith of power, and the True Creator was some unfathomable ancient evil that totally destroyed Klein just by proxy. And now Klein has reached that level. Damn. Right now, I would say his two biggest obstacles are the apotheosis ritual and Antigonus. Antigonus has the remaining Attendant of Mysteries characteristic and the Fool uniqueness, though considering how Klein was able to deal with Zaratul, I'm not sure how much of an issue he will be. As for the apotheosis ritual, I don't even know what constitutes "fooling time, space, or history". My best guess right now is that it will have something to do either with his deal with the Genie (Son of Chaos?) or the fact that he's from the 21st century. There is also digesting the Attendant of Mysteries potion and getting getting the supplementary "ingredient" for the apotheosis ritual. However, with Gehrman's position as "attendant" to Mr. Fool, I don't think the former will pose much of an issue. As for the latter, what exactly does it mean to "control a quarter of the fog of history"? If it just means uncovering it, then I don't think it will be a big deal, but if it means that he holds authority over that part of history, as in he "owns" it, then I'm not sure how it would be accomplished. Once he becomes a Deity, it's basically just a matter of besting Amon and resisting the encroachment of the Lord of the Mysteries' will, and then he'll basically be ready to become a Great Old One, right? Wow. Damn.
if not for interference from few deity i bet Mother Goddess of Depravity will succeed on corrupting Amon even if Amon have 1st Blasphemy Slate.. Amon only suceed coz of deity interference and plot armor so that he can duke it out with Klein for the throne of Lord of Mysteries R.I.P Mr Door... well i admire him tho because he choose to sacrifice himself for sake of his descendants and all human on earth(doubt Amon ,Medeci or Zaratul will do it if in his shoe)..still what a nice cooperation between Klein and Rosselle to get rid of Zaratul.... i still wish to see him free of corruption and join hand with Klein to achieve their dream playing game together XD
That last scene during Amon's ritual just showed how messed up this whole situation with the outer deities and creating and an ATS strong enough to withstand them is. I have no doubt most of the deities there would have loved nothing else more than to just let Amon get eaten but they obviously can't let the outer deities gain any kind of foothold and would probably benefit from a LotM existing even if it is Amon. No matter how uncertain a future they might have after it's all said and done, it's still better than infinite unwanted pregnancies. Of course that relies on Amon not turning out to be worse than the eldritch horrors but perhaps becoming a symbolic pillar of the universe will forcefully curb his behaviour.
It's just so funny to see those two take inspiration from each other. Like one of Klein favorite troll is imitating Amon's monocle and now Amon bow like Klein does. Is that a hint that they can resolve their obvious existential incompatibility (they have to fight to advance at some point) in a peaceful way? I'm kinda betting on a fusion of some sort, well mainly because I love both Klein and Amon and I don't want any of them to die
