I've always wondered if Klein had actually destroyed the notebook. That would certainly explain why it can't be found. That said, if he destroyed it, why would he leave his friend's place to do so? Why didn't he do it on the streets or in some sacred place? Why did he go to his own cheap apartment instead? Or did he destroy it and then go back home to blow his brains out? Why didn't he die at the same place with his friends?
