Cuttlefish That Loves Diving
Loen Kingdom is like Britain, Intis Republic is like France and Roselle is like Napoleon. Gold pound is like pound and soli is like shilling in Britain. British currency system in Victorian era: 1 Farthing = 0.25 penny 1 Dandyprat = 2 pence 1 Groat = 4 pence 1 Shilling = 12 pence 1 Florin = 2 Shillings 1 Grown = 5 Shillings 1 Pound = 20 Shillings 1 Guine = 1.05 Pounds 1 Sovereign = 1.5 Pounds 1 Rose Royal= 2 Pounds OMG, you have to be good at math.
As so many readers had mentioned. When the price of Grains rise, stopping import will not help to control the price but inverse. That means the "Grain Act" make no sense. So I checked the original Text in Chinese XD. It says "The import is forbidden before the Grain price rise to a certain level." aha, that makes sense. When you want to know, why people would protest The Low, that seems good for the price-Control of the Grain. Google "Corn Lows" XD. You will find that it's a law in Victoria era which mentioned in the beginning of this chapter. Furthermore it also reveal the rise of new political power -- Capitalism. Once you notice that background, you will find that every story in the fiction fit the background of the times. (When I read the Chapter in Chinese, I did't even notice the detail and didn’t know the history of the Corn Law neither. I should thanks to the translations mistake that made me notice the details XD)
What is it with Chinese authors giving female names to male characters, and occasionally vice versa. Roselle is a strictly female name, unless you’re parents are total a holes. It’s like these authors and translators do not know how to google check. I see this a lot with Chinese or non-native speaking English authors that use western names. It can be very annoying, especially if the character becomes a major part of the story. I think the worst offense I’ve read was a girl named Aaron, not Erin or Aerin, but Aaron, although, Roselle is a pretty close second. I remember it really took me out of the story when the mc was talking to his ex girlfriend Aaron.
Isn’t it interesting how the world works? How the planets orbit the sun in almost spherical orbitals. How the leaves of a tree shift in the wind. How birds are able to fly with the wind. How Wendy’s burgers are square and not circular. There’s a lot more things to discover in this world. I’m here to introduce these things to you. It’s time that you start learning. Read my story Dipper: The Apprentice and you’ll be just fine.
