This looks like more as retribution for the actions that Ves take against polymath. Not because polymath was right, but because now the mech desingners lose the Spotlight and pilots take the main role as defenders of humanity. Ves is loyal to the vision that desingners should serve the pilots, but this groups want to recover the status quo of pilots work for the desingner for better machines.

Ves seems to be handicapped, since he can’t use his carmine mechs to prove his point. I guess it makes for more drama do a slight set back for the Larkinsons. I don’t anticipate they would outright banned his living mechs. The RA allowed Ves to be handicapped for sure, but at the same time they can’t let him fail miserably as well. They need him for his Carmine mechs
