This tournament highlights the weaknesses in Ves’ philosophy. In the physical aspect Ves has no obvious strengths and at the first round is at its weakest due to a weak mech-pilot bond. Ves... you GOT a ship. Now just repeat that another 10 times... and hope the rest of the clan matches your results! (Many of them are piloting your mechs, so they should have a chance) And I would be quite surprised if all the Novice and Apprentice designers in the clan were not also in tournaments too. Gloriana has made her views known, but the other Journeyman in the alliance are probably in tournaments too! If Ves's lack of Senior status is inhibiting recruiting... is Senior Benidict Cross having more luck? He does have a Fabrication Capital Ship too!
I wonder if that "last place" contestant is available for hire? Worst of the Best is still objectively really good! And Ves is looking specifically for "humility" and "extra hands" in his hires instead of excellent potential. Last Place losers will be more likely to hire under a fellow Journeyman instead of more demanding options.
