I believe that it was mentioned in earlier chapters that one of the possible reasons as to why their head keeps blowing up is because they fail to direct that sort of energy into something. Mech designers have their philosophy to create a crystallization of their path, mech pilots have their mechs to pour that energy and their force of will that is produced from their desires.

I just had a sudden thought that occurred to me last night before going to sleep and I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned it before but what if the gems lucky produces are actually the design seeds of other mech designers somehow made into physical form? It would explain how they have effects that boost certain aspects of a mech since that might have been the designer seeds focus
