Exlor
Imma play a bit of a devil's advocate here and say that the novel actually benefits a fair bit from ves being a bit of a fool (so long as it doesn't go into the realm of xianxia protags who don't clear up misunderstandings). Ves's antics and planning (or lack thereof) add much needed moments of crisis, and ensure that not everything goes his way. If he planned for every eventuality or got all these common sense skills/abilities, we'd be complaining about the then clearly over-the-top deus ex machina - every problem would be resolved before it even started.
Can ves buy some common sense "learning" from the system finally? Critical thinking, crisis management, marksmanship, body language, etc? If I have to read about him (or others) complain about having a great firearm but not the skill to use it well again I HAVE to believe he has a mental disability. He can't keep letting himself get into those situations again and again AND knows that will continue to happen (needs to experience the galaxy for his design seed) and not solve his problems...
People here are hating alot on Ves, but this whole debacle started with Calabast Supposed opportunity being alot more dangerouse and harder than she let on from the start, she even tried to get plus points saying she is working hard to fix it when it was her incompetance that started the whole debacle with him being attacked, unable to get even a lowly novice/apprentice to help him. Having close to zero support from Ylvin except from the paper pushers. She was supposedly going to give him the golden tickets. if it was anyone els but Ves they would have said FU to her and just left like gavin suggested...
