Their mechs literally destroy a fleet of warships. And in This novel ships are liken to a godlike weaponry so it's banned to arm it? Huh?

During the YTE and the LIT competitions the author when over several times that space is an extremely poor heat conductor do that lasor weapons needed to be fired conservatively to avoiding melting the entire mech. There are only a few mechs in pursuit yet they have rapid fire lasor hail hitting the ship... right.

How is the Harrier not being left behind by the Barracuda? It's not fast enough to keep up, and it's not connected to the ship in any way during the fights.

Not having weapons on ships seems kind of redundant. I can understand weapons of mass destruction but, anti mech weapons should be a priority on all ships above a certain price range.

Do they all have inertia dampers that stop them from being squished by the high speeds? Like in star trek? Cuz i don't recall reading about that tech...
