The worst luck

I have always been what you called a confident person some will say cocky bastard. I remember the day when I left my great-uncle's house for college. After being accepted into the software engineering course, I finally felt like my life of fighting and delinquency as I would not call myself the best individual. an orphan at 13 moved through several schools due to what they call behavioral problems. yeah, I wasn't the best person but I didn't beat people up without reason, filtering through girlfriends, smoking and drinking you name it. Everyone believed I was talented and that I was wasting my life through constant fighting but luckily my great-uncle set me straight. Before I left, he said, "Remember, it's not how you fail that matters, but how you get up." At the time, I dismissed it as typical parental advice. But now, I think I can apply it to my current predicament. If you even consider my current predicament normal in the first place.

I, Tobi Lookman, believe I'm in my ex-girlfriend's favorite novel. This was not what I expected on my New Year's resolutions list. My thoughts are interrupted by a throbbing headache. I look at the half-drunk glass of wine before me and try to collect my thoughts in the lavish bedroom full of French Victorian-looking decor antiques and jewelry. I looked down at my bedroom table looking like there was an expensive gold-incrusted dagger, diary, what seemed like an order, and a mirror I glimpsed myself in a mirror and realized this wasn't my body. I've inherited the body of a minor villain—The crown prince's older brother, Lucien Guillaume, is known for being a drunkard, a hot-tempered womanizer, and the black sheep of the family.

Just my luck. But there's no time to dwell on it as when I also pick up the order it just confirms my hypothesis and my worst fears because it also seems I'm at the end of this damn novel. Why is that a problem? I'm about to be banished to the Éclipse Duchy, the land of the forgotten—a desolate area where nobles send their useless children, and where some of the poorest and the so-called leftovers of the empire live if i remember correctly. Not the best place to stay. It's a fitting punishment for him, considering his crimes. But the problem is, I am not him.

Before I can finish dwelling on my sorrows, a servant enters my room. Dressed in an official uniform, he looks like a knight with brown hair and green eyes. He regards me giving me a look of disdain with a hint of disappointment it surely seems like we were personally acquainted. "Are you ready for the wedding, Your Highness?" he asks. My confusion must be evident because he adds, "Between your brother and Lady Élodie," with a look of indifference and disappointment.

Truly, I must have had the worst luck.
