Day 27

"You're twenty-seven years old and just made a big decision out of many in your life," said Kyle with a smirk. "Oh? And what's the weird decision?"

I rustled through my backpack and took out a ring pop. "Congratulations, you're the proud owner of an engagement ring. Choose wisely, this ain't Vegas." As Nurse Nadia came into the room, Kyle stuffed his ring in his blankets.

"Don't be too sure, Renata." Nurse Nadia was one of those newly ordained nurses. She was young, single, and had a Russian accent. She was also out of her wonderful personality (and I say that with no sarcasm), a looker.

Kyle looked up at his nurse in such a sultry way, I doubt Abraham is as good an actor as he was. "Hey Nadia," he said in a husky voice.

She looked at him and held his gaze, "Yes?" she asked him.

"We've known each other for about two weeks but what's two weeks when it's felt like two years of bliss." She laughed and worked on the machine that took his blood pressure. Nadia looks away long enough for Kyle to take the ring pop out of the packet and hold the plastic band with both of his hands.

When she turns to look at him again, she sees the ring pop and laughed again. "Kyle what is this?"

"A proposal. Beautiful Nadia, I know I'm nearing the end of my life but being with you would make me the happiest man in the world and that is no exaggeration. You're a wonderful nurse but you also have a wonderful heart. Please, accept me for who I am because I've become a better man with you in my life." He moved the ring closer to Nadia and she smirked.

"Thank you, Kyle. I accept this ring and your proposal. Just know that either of us can break off this engagement at anytime..." Nadia put the candy ring on her finger and took a lick from it... "and no refunds. I get to keep it."

Kyle winked at her before he said, "I wouldn't want it any other way my love."
