Day 13

"Congrats, it's your last year as a pre-teen!" Kyle reads the card enthusiastically. Then, he continues to read: "The last time for a few years your parents will find you delightful."

"So?" I ask Kyle.

"My parents loved me as a teenager. They couldn't get enough of me!"

"Why don't I believe that?"

Kyle's about to open his mouth in protest, when there's a knock at the door. As the door opens, I see a less cooler version of Kyle enter the room. "Well, hello!" said Kyle with a raised brow. "Here to finalize my will, lil' bro?"

The geeky version of Kyle with glasses looks cute. "You mean the fact that you have no money to give away means your invisible will is useless?" He glances at me and points too. "Who is this?"

"My new family," said Kyle as I got up from my chair.

"My name is Renata," I replied. "Kyle has talked about you before. He's never told me your name though."

The moment Kyle's little brother hears my voice, confusion clouds his features. "Oh my God, Renata! I think you just broke my lil' bro. Hurry, call the AI factory!"

"Shut up, Kyle!" yelled Kyle's lil' bro and I.

His confusion was replaced with a smile in my direction. "My name is January," he replied. He has his hand closed in a fist and has it just out there waiting. I give him a fist bump with a fist of my own.

"What a momentus day; the male is making contact with the female via a fist pump...and so the mating ritual begins..."

"SHUT UP, KYLE!"

He was full of energy that day. Enough to narrarate the way January and I greeted each other and make it sound like a nature documentary. It caused both January and I to blush.

I guess that was Kyle's purpose all along. That doesn't mean January or I were going to make it easy for him.
