*10 Years before*
Min-Ju comes home after an exhausting week of work. She hasn't come home in weeks since her parents were back from a vacation in America
"There's a message for you. Are you considering going?" her mom asked
''Huh? What are you talking about"
"Take a listen for yourself" She said gesturing to the telephone
Min-Ju went to the telephone to listen to the message
"Hello, This is Park Min-Kyung of Park Industries. I was informed by human resources that you were a possible candidate for interning at the legal firm. I have looked over your file and I say your work was extraordinary and your writing is spectacular. I'm calling you personally to offer you a job on our legal team as a lawyer. Call me back when you get this message"
Min-Ju dropped the receiver and called back to Human Resources to accept the offer. When she accepted she forgot about JinHai. She forgot that she even applied.
That night she couldn't sleep and was too excited and wanted to tell JinHai.
But then a thought popped into her head. She forgot that it was in Korea and she needs to ask him to move with her
They planned to meet up today and she was nervous as she never asked him something that big. Min-Ju walked to the river near the university thinking of what is she gonna say to him
"Hey!" She said hugging and kissing him
"Hi! Are you okay? You look stressed"
"Yeah I'm fine"
"You shouldn't worry so much. We have everything planned out" He said happily
"JinHai..." She paused and took a breath
She took both of his hands and handle it in hers
"I got a job offer for an entrepreneur..."
"That great him happy for you" he said hugging her
But she pushed him away. She didn't know how to break the news to him and it confused him because her eyes weren't cold they were warm looking like she wanted to tell him something desperately
"What's wrong?"
"The job... the job is in Korea" she said hesitantly
"Korea?! Did... you accept it?" He asked wishing that she didn't
"Yeah. So I'm asking you to come with me to Korea"
JinHai took a deep breath and placed around placing his hand of his forehand
"Min-Ju I... can't" He admitted hoping that it would convince her to stay
"Why not?" she asked shocked by his answer
"Min-Ju. You can't expect me to drop everything and go with you to Korea. A country where they don't speak Chinese"
"You can learn. I can teach you"
"What you are asking is impossible. What about my parents? Yours too. My friends and JOB are all here."
"What is so impossible about it. We can visit. It is only a two-hour flight"
"Min-Ju" He said turning around frustrated that she can't see why he can't leave with her
"Why? Why can't you come with me"
"WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK ME!" He yells. Scaring Min-Ju as she never saw him this mad at her
"I didn't consider it" she confessed
"WHY? WHY? You know your one flaw is that you're too impulsive. You make decisions without considering me, your BOYFRIEND. How about BiYu or Mr.Song?"
"Mr.Song? You're bring him into his argument"
"What about you? Why can't you support me in my decision"
"Why didn't you consider me and how I feel?"
"I did! I thought you would agree"
"AGREE! Have you gone crazy? Why would I agree to go to a country where I can't even speak the language"
Min-Ju scoffs "You call me impulsive then aren't you self-centered"
"Self-centered? You're the one who is self-centered. You didn't even consider me about how am I gonna feel?''
"JinHai... this is my future. A job where I am going to be successful and you can open your law firm there. I can't do it without you" She pleaded
"Well... you have to, it's your future, not mine. Mine is staying here and being happy here. I can't be happy there"
"How would you know that you won't be happy there if you don't go"
"Li Min-Ju! Why do I have to explain myself again? Are you are not taking NO for an answer. I CAN'T GO... I just can't"
Min-Ju started to tear up
"Fine" Admitting defeat with a heavy sigh
"I hope life will bring you happiness" She wished him well
She turned around covering her mouth to muffle her crying and started walking
He watched her walk until she was out of sight as he secretly wished that she would have turned around
He stayed behind looking out onto the river, taking out a cigarette pack and getting frustrated trying to take out a cigarette
Min-Ju couldn't stop crying as rushed home and started to pack
She was leaving for Korea in three days...
