Celestials

Thena couldn't help but lower her voice, almost a whisper, afraid they might overhear,- "We were created to protect the humans, but we failed, and now they're here because too many have died."

Trying to take her mind off the situation, so she wouldn't lose herself in paranoia, she peels her eyes away, glancing at a very serious-looking Theoric before turning to the peacefully sleeping girls under the tree,- "Should we wake them?" She mistakenly asked out loud, The thought slipping out as a pang of guilt assaulted her.

Theoric turned to erect a barrier that would prevent them from being disturbed,- "How cruel would it be to wake them now, no, let them happily rest, we should all be so lucky to go in our sleep surrounded by friends and family," he said, no longer of the belief that one should have to die in battle.

He wasn't certain of anything anymore, but he did know there were no gods running around in the future, this could be the moment they all die, though that didn't explain how Odin survived. His eyes searching for his old king.

His words struck a chord with her, thinking about what the other Eternals are doing right now.

Zeus was the first to act, his size growing, but still very small compared to the grandeur of the Celestials.

What he lacked in size he made up for in arrogance,- "This isn't the first time we faced Titans, my fellow brothers, and sisters... And just like back then we will come out on top, for this is our time, this our planet, and nobody is going to come here and take what is ours! Are You With Me?!"

Cheers erupted in the face of their would-be oppressors, each growing to a similar height to face their foes.

"Zeus!" Odin called out, wanting to ask about the possibility of diplomacy first, despite the overall sentiment of the earlier meeting. Even he got swept up in the glorious prospect of a great battle that he neglected to address the situation in his new proper kingly way.

Not privy of his thoughts, Zeus grinned,- "Not to worry old friend, I got you covered."

Odin was then bathed in light as his size grew to match his brethren at arms. Releasing a small sigh in honor of his previous elevated thoughts before replacing it with an old bloodthirsty grin that few enemies have lived to see, getting a laugh out of Zeus who knew that look all too well.

This all happened within a span of a short few minutes, right under the Celestial noses who looked on with what could only be described as disinterest. Standing there like statues observing the mundane happenings around them.

They came when they felt their experiment was at risk. Finding that the guardians they left in charge failed to live up to their duties. The shortsighted creatures that they were, couldn't focus, couldn't comprehend their place in the bigger picture, and so they strayed away from their purpose.

Deviants were found once more on the surface and the offsprings of another running rampant.

"Well you came all the way here, SAY SOMETHING!" Shouted an on edge Zeus, growing Irritated at their unresponsiveness.

A Celestial's turn of the neck was all it took, and all hell broke loose as Zeus and the rest charged,- "ATTACK!"

They attacked the closest one first, the red one with the horizontal slits on the helmet.

Zeus raises his golden thunderbolt, lightning striking the head while Odin and the rest concentrate on the body.

Vishnu sent his discus, The Sudarshan Chakra, his divine weapon. The holy discus consists of two discs rotating in opposite directions with each disc having more than a million sharp spikes on its edges. More concerned with preserving life though, he prepared to defend against any incoming strikes. He didn't have to wait long though, as the Red Celestial raised his hand and fired a cosmic beam.

Sensing the power behind that one strike gave him pause. He moved to the middle of everyone and put everything he had into blocking it. A grand protective lotus formed around them with other supportive gods helping out.

The combined total seemed to be just enough as the beam struck their barrier. Cracks forming soon shattered as it smashed through layer after layer of protection, losing steam as it went, dissipating on the last one.

That one seemingly casual strike was enough though to see the difference between them. Vishnu and many others who helped defend, already panting from exertion.

Zeus and the more aggressive gods who attacked didn't notice this as they dodged and continued their assault, using everything in their arsenal, blasts of energy and magic peppering the colossal entity.

At the end of the day, the Red Celestial took it all in stride, not at all concerned as he began charging another attack while his Celestial brothers watch on without worry.

Sensing another attack imminent, Vishnu knew this time wasn't going to be as easy. Blowing his conch, he empowered those nearest him and prepared another lotus defense.

This beam turned out even stronger than the last one, and tore through the barriers with ease, instantly killing the weaker gods and blasting the rest away. Vishnu brought his mace in front and did his best to stave off the attack as best he could, but was also soon blasted away.

Multiple cosmic energy points formed around the Red Celestial, one for every foe, blasting all of them away and killing a few more here and there.

Some of the faster ones like Zeus managed to dodge and go in for another strike only to come face to face once more with another and another until everything was cleared around the Red Celestial.

Dragging himself out of the rubble, Zeus found Odin, Poseidon, Ra, Anu, Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva waiting for him.

Odin,- "We need to combine our efforts into a singular point or we'll never get anywhere, none of us are strong enough on our own." Not even mentioning the demoralizing fact that they were only facing one while the rest of them watched.

Zeus scowled, but relented,- "And how do you purpose we do this?"

Odin,- "We need to decide which of us is going to be the conduit, and then we'll channel our powers into him and his chosen weapon."

"Well I suspect you're all here cause the choice is obvious, there is no denying that my power has the best chance of piercing that thick hide," Zeus grinned.

Odin sighed along with a few others,- "Yeah we figured something like that, get ready, the other gods will distract it while we prepare."

Finished with their channeling, an overcharged Zeus moved faster than ever before, appearing right before the Red Celestial whose small head movement made the cocky god chuckle thinking he surprised the thing. Wasting no time, he lifted up his Golden Thunderbolt that was now emanating with the combined powers of multiple gods and chucked it straight at the head with blinding speed.

A wave of unknown force materialized, passing by the flying weapon, rendering its power inert. Leaving the gods gobsmacked, with no doubt that they were far, far out of their depth.

Raising its red hand, the strongest cosmic energy blast yet, struck the frozen lightning god who couldn't believe what he just witnessed, point-blank, leaving others wondering if he was alive or dead.
