8 Settling in

After shopping for a few hours we managed to get everything that my new parents thought I would need now that I am no longer staying in the orphanage. This new stuff included a lot of new clothes as well as other toiletries such as shampoo and body wash. At my urging, they also bought me a few books on topics like programming, cooking, and martial arts. Now that I have Advanced Adaptation I can master many new skills easily, but for now, I planned to stick only to learning Nen and the previously mentioned three.

Programming would be an all-around useful skill that would also help me when I want to start hacking as well. Just because I can become a powerhouse using Nen doesn't mean that's all I'll do. Now that I've been in this world for a little while I know that it's much bigger than what the manga depicted. All Might may be the peak in Japan, but that's certainly not the case in other parts of the world. All Might is still powerful, but he is more of a brute-force fighter. There are many people out there, both heroes and villains with extremely complicated and powerful abilities that aren't so straightforward.

I choose cooking to master for a simpler reason, I like food. Even in my previous life, I had always wanted to be a good chief, but I had never really bothered to put in the work. It would be a different story in this life. I planned to start early and take full advantage of cooking to make myself as well as those close to me extremely amazing food. Who knows, maybe in the future I could even create a hatsu that allows me to gain buffs from eating food.

I reason I want to learn martial arts is also very simple. Using Nen I can become an incredibly powerful fighter, but it would also be helpful if I have actual technique behind my attacks and not just wild punches and kicks. Martial arts would also provide me with exercise and discipline. With enough mastery, I can even eventually reach beyond the human limit with the help of Nen. I could theoretically become a mini Issac Netero. I don't want to even begin to think about how much work it would take to get me to be as physically strong as Netero during his prime.

'Actually, I can' I thought to myself. My mind drifted back to Advanced Adaptation once more. It can allow me to slowly adapt my body and eventually reach the level that Netero could reach. Not just Netero, but becoming as strong if not stronger than people like All Might is possible due to Nen. It would take me a while to reach this level, but I am fairly certain at this point that I am sometime before canon starts.

My new parents were more than happy to buy me the books and their excitement seemed to only increase once we arrived back at their house. It seemed to finally set in for both of them that they now have a son. Eventually, we pulled into an average-looking apartment block right on the outskirts of Tokyo. I knew that UA is located in a fictional city, but I was pretty sure we are close enough to get there by train, so I decided to ask about it.

"How far are we from UA?"

"UA? Do you want to be a hero in the future? Well, UA isn't too too far but it's still about 1 hour and 15 minutes by train,"

This information was given to me by my new Dad as he was unpacking the car. He was facing away from me while responding, but I could detect a hint of dislike or bitterness when he spoke about heroes. I wasn't exactly sure what that would mean for me, but as if he could read my thoughts he spoke once more.

"I work in the area though, so if you end up attending then we'll probably be traveling together which will be fun,"

He definitely had a bit more enthusiasm when he spoke this time, but I didn't forget about his bitterness when speaking the first time. I was about to ask more questions when my new mom burst out of the door leading to the garage we were parked in and ushered me into the apartment building. We went to the elevator and ascended all the way up to the top floor. It was one of those apartment buildings that wrapped around a courtyard so I could clearly see across and down to the other floors of apartments.

I noticed that we were on a floor where there were considerably fewer apartments, meaning that these apartments are probably much larger. Being on the 15th floor also provided us with pretty good views of the surrounding area. I quit looking around when we reached the apartment. After a quick jangling of keys, we were in and I couldn't help but admire the apartment. It was a fairly large apartment that had three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Their favorite color must be ed due to how much of the furniture and artwork on the walls feature the color.

The furniture all looked comfortable, including my new bed. I hoped for it and felt like I was floating on a cloud. Mom left me alone to explore while she went down to help dad grab stuff from the car. It feels a bit weird calling them mom and dad, but I forced myself to start so that I can adapt sooner rather than later.

Looking around I could clearly see that my room was the only one that didn't follow the red color scheme that the rest of the apartment follows. The entire room is obviously whitewashed presumably so that I can decorate it with whatever colors I want. It just so happens that red is one of my favorite colors as well, so I decided that I would just go with the flow.

My new home is comfortable and I also saw a small overgrown park nearby, giving me the prefect place to practice. I grinned widely, I was beginning to belive that this would be a pretty good life.
