18 First Day

After they confirmed I was not a spy my talk with All Might and Nezu ended pretty quickly. I knew this was in part due to All Might being on a timer for how long he can stay in his buff form as well as due to Nezu's very bust schedule, especially now that the school year was approaching fast. I left right after getting a picture with All Might as well as him signing a small piece of paper provided to me by Nezu.

I arrived at the train station and made my way home, arriving to find the house empty. Just like how when I was younger my parents started taking fewer jobs to spend more time with me, as I've gotten older they have started taking on more jobs especially with me saying that I want to attend U.A. I was thankful for them and the work they put into raising me, even though we aren't related by blood I have a deep respect for both of them.

After a few days, they both returned home and we spent an entire week celebrating my acceptance into U.A. Of course, my official acceptance letter and the hologram tape of All Might might announcing my score came, but I basically ignored them. One thing that was required before starting school was sending in my hero costume design. This was something that I had spent a lot of time thinking about recently.

I wanted to go more of an Endeavor route of intimidation with my costume while still keeping it simple. That was when I decided on Tatara's costume from Tokyo Ghoul. It consists of a big white trench coat that covers my entire body, but instead of it covering my hands as well I decided to cut the sleeves shorter and add a pair of white gloves instead. It also has a red mask that covers the lower half of my face. (A/N: Picture Here)

I felt that it struck a good balance between simplicity, intimidation, and looking cool. While I would much rather prefer to be an underground hero that doesn't get noticed much by the crowd I know that joining class 1-A won't help me do that. I will become at least slightly well-known through either the sports festival, the villain attacks, or both. Anyway, now that I sent in my costume design in to the school I can chill for a week or two before school starts.

. . .

The rest of my break passed quickly and uneventfully. Now, after 11 years in this world, I stood before the gates of U.A High School as a student of the institution. So far I have only made small ripples in this world, but that would change from now on. This day would mark the start of my new, most likely chaotic life. I took a deep breath and took my first step into the building.

The halls of U.A. are absolutely massive and labyrinthine. It took me a solid ten minutes just to find where the classroom was. I was about to enter the room when I stopped and thought for a second. I wondered if I should make some sort of grand entrance, but then again I didn't want to draw a ton of attention to myself. I quickly checked the piece of paper in my hand once more and saw that I was in seat number 19. I guess that means I would be replacing Mineta after all.

That also meant I would be in the 3rd seat from the front on the far side of the classroom from the door. Deciding against my grand entrance I activated (Peek-a-Boo) and started to sink into the floor. I remained in the floor until I was certain I was below the right spot and started to rise. Once my eyes were just above the floor level I looked around and saw that almost everyone else was already there. I also made sure that nobody sitting adjacent to me was watching as I quickly rose into my seat.

Nobody seemed to notice my arrival which made me grin. Well, almost nobody I managed to catch Aizawa's gaze. He was in his yellow sleeping bag on the ground. That gave him the perfect angle to watch me rise from the floor into my seat. We held each other's gazes a second before I just nodded at him and turned away. He gave no indication of what he thought of my stunt, but personally, I thought it was the perfect mix between flashy and remaining inconspicuous.

Looking over the chaotic class I could see that Midoryia, Uraraka, and Ida were all gathered at the door talking to each other. Many other people were also lost in nervous discussion until a voice cut through all the noise. This voice belonged to our homeroom teacher, Aizawa of course. What surprised me was that even if he wasn't speaking loudly and spoke in a downright depressed monotone voice he still managed to get the entire class's attention immediately.

"It took eight seconds for you guys to quiet down. Time is precious, you kids are so irrational. I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa."

As he spoke Aizawa rose and unzipped his yellow sleeping bag. There was only one word that came to mind when looking at him, haggard. He didn't look unclean or unkempt in any way, he just looked worn out. Everything from the way he spoke to the way he moved seemed to scream tired. I briefly wondered why he bothered keeping the job of working at U.A, but dismissed it quickly. The entire class seemed shocked by the revelation that this man would be our homeroom teacher.

"It's kinda sudden, but put these on and meet out at the training field,"

He passed out gym uniforms wrapped in plastic with each student's name labeled on it. He started moving but was cut off by Ida speaking up.

"Excuse me sensei, but I only count 19 of us here, aren't we waiting for one more?"

"Count again, there are 20 of you present. Uraraka was the last to arrive."

This caused many people to turn their head's in confusion until their eyes landed on me. I just gave a small wave as the attention was directed toward me.

"Enough chit-chat, get a move on,"

With that, we all filtered out and towards the changing rooms.
