Kaito Chapter 68

Danzo spoke up, "how good of you to come over from your side, kakashi. you entered foundation jurisdiction without authorization and tried to take one of our own. don't think you'll get off so easily. " He paused as they were surrounded on all sides.

"danzo sama, kakashi isnt-" Tenzo tried to interject but was cut off by Danzo's furious shout of "Silence!"

Before he could continue, however, chakra chains burst forth and wrapped around Danzo's body. and At the same time a tanto with red lightning streaming through it was held near his neck. A voice growled, "Were you saying something, Danzo?"

Kaito crouched in the shadows, silently observing the intense events unfolding before him. He watched as Kakashi and Tenzo abruptly halted their movements upon spotting Danzo Infront of them. In a split second, Danzo launched a powerful wind-style vacuum bullet directly at them. Without hesitation, Tenzo swiftly created a protective dome of wood around himself and Kakashi.

In that moment, Kaito couldn't help but wonder how Kakashi survived this exact situation in the original timeline. His eyes narrowed as he witnessed the clash of jutsus, leaving behind an exhausted Kakashi and Tenzo. "I only remember that Kakashi was attacked by Tenzo then later kakashi helped him from Root," Kaito thought to himself grimly.

Realizing he couldn't just stand idly by while not knowing if the changes in the timeline will effect kakashi survival here, Kaito made a quick decision. "Damn it, I have to do something," he muttered under his breath. The sight of Kakashi struggling against Danzo with his current condition fueled Kaito's determination even more. He knew he had to act fast if they were going to survive this encounter.

Kaito reached into his pouch and retrieved a seal, placing it on himself and activated it. As the seal activated, he felt a surge of chakra flow through his body, All the while thinking to himself, "Danzo shouldn't be stronger than an elite Jonin without the Izanagi and Sharingan. He shouldn't be Kage level. I should be able to take him down with a surprise attack." griping his tanto firmly, Kaito created five shadow clones and used the swift Body Flicker jutsu, reappearing behind Danzo in the blink of an eye.

Hidden by the stealth seal still active on him, Kaito used his chakra chains to bind Danzo's movements and held his tanto dangerously close to Danzo's neck. Red lightning crackled along its blade as Kaito spoke with a menacing tone, "Were you saying something, Danzo?"

As he relished in the moment, Kaito couldn't help but think to himself, "Damn, that sounded so cool."

Danzo froze mid-sentence, his voice trailing off as chakra chains suddenly enveloped him. A tanto with red lightning was pressed against his neck, silencing the room with its threat. The only sound that could be heard was the crackling of red lightning. Kakashi's eyes widened in surprise as Kaito appeared out of nowhere and using his chakra chains to restrain Danzo and holding a tanto to his neck. He muttered "wha-...Kaito?" in disbelief.

Tenzo stood wide-eyed at the sudden turn of events, not knowing what to make of it. Everything had happened so fast that even Danzo himself wasn't aware before he was being restrained by Kaito's powerful chakra chains. His eyes widened in realization as he thought, "So fast, I couldn't even sense him approaching." He craned his neck to try and see behind him, but the restraining chains limited his movements and his chakra was restrained.

The other Root Anbu members tensed up in surprise and confusion, never expecting their leader to be taken hostage in such a way.

Danzo's voice roared out with anger, "What do you think you're doing, boy?" His eyes narrowed as he recognized the chakra chains and realized it was none other than Kaito Uzumaki. A sense of dread washed over him as he thought to himself, "How did he find Root's Base? How did he get in? Did Kakashi bring him along?"

Kaito's voice responded, laced with amusement, "I should be the one asking you that. Or have you forgotten that you were put under house arrest for practically treason?"

The tense atmosphere grew even more strained as Kaito's tone turned into a low growl. "Not only did you kill a member of the Uchiha clan for their sharingan, but you also attempted to kidnap my friend who is the heiress of the Hyuga clan. And now, you're trying to kill Kakashi, the student of the Fourth Hokage and also my friend, for his sharingan. Tell me, why shouldn't I just end your life right here and now?"

A sneer formed on Danzo's face as he replied, "Boy, you shouldn't have gotten involved in something that doesn't concern you." He chuckled darkly before adding, "HaHaHa...And do you really think you can simply walk away after killing me? Look around you - my Root will take care of you before you can even utter a word."

At his words, the Root ANBU tensed and prepared themselves for any possible confrontation. The air was thick with tension as both men faced off against each other with deadly intentions burning in their eyes.

Kaito's smirk widened as he looked at the man in front of him. "You think I'm an idiot?" he scoffed. "Of course, I know that your dogs will attack me the moment I kill you. That's why..." Kaito's voice trailed off as a seal matrix suddenly appeared on the ground beneath their feet, spreading out over their bodies and across all the bridges in the area.

"That's why I plan to kill them along with you," Kaito finished, a dangerous glint in his eyes. Before the ROOT agents could react, they found themselves under a massive seal matrix that paralyzed their movements, leaving only Kaito, Kakashi, and Tenzo unaffected.

They grunted and panicked, trying desperately to break free from the restraining seal, but to no avail. Kaito's shadow clones had done their job well.

"Do you like it?" Kaito asked with a smirk, twirling his tanto in his hand as he stepped away from Danzo. "It's one of my own creations. I call it the Immobilized Tandem Paper Bombs." He removed the tanto from Danzo's neck and turned to face Kakashi, still holding onto Danzo with a chakra chain.

"And as the name suggests," Kaito continued, walking towards Kakashi and Tenzo with a confident stride. "It was inspired by the Second Hokage's jutsu." He placed a hand on their backs before turning back to Danzo with a grin. "Good luck surviving this. Well, unless you know how to teleport. You wo-..."

Kaito trailed off, his eyes flickering up as he sensed someone approaching. He clicked his tongue in recognition, and a moment later Hiruzen landed beside Danzo with a graceful sweep of his cape. "My, my, quite the jutsu this is, Kaito-kun," Hiruzen remarked, glancing at the frozen Root agents surrounding them. Danzo was frozen in place, unable to move a muscle.

Seeing Hiruzen's arrival, Danzo quickly spoke up. "Hiruzen, order the boy to release the jutsu."

Hiruzen turned to look at Danzo, his expression stern. "I am well aware that you harbor a grudge against Kakashi, but that does not give you justification to target one of the Leaf's finest..."

Danzo interrupted him, raising his voice in protest. "What are you talking about, Hiruzen? I could care less about Kakashi. But he and the boy chose to trespass into Root's jurisdiction, and that is a serious offense."

Hiruzen leaned forward, his aged face etched with concern. "He chose? No, he was under orders by me to summon you. And as for Kaito, he must have tagged along with Kakashi," he said, looking over at the young ninja. Hiruzen's voice lowered to a serious tone as he continued, "As to why I sent for you, I wanted to talk to you about the Wood Style user and the future of Root. As you were dismissed of all your duties, I would like to integrate members of Root into Konoha's ANBU under my command, thus dissolving the foundation."

Danzo started to protest, "But you can't just dismantle the foundation. It serves an important--"

"You brought this upon yourself, Danzo," Hiruzen interrupted firmly. "This is final. I will expect a list of all personnel on my desk by tomorrow."

Then he turned to Kaito and asked, "can you release them now, Kaito-kun?"

Kaito hesitated before finally nodding and releasing Danzo and the other Root agents from his fuinjutsu. He couldn't help but think, "I could have gotten rid of Danzo and his cronies right then and there. But no, his damn boyfriend just had to show up at this inconvenient time." Internally cursing Hiruzen's timing and his own sense of loyalty, Kaito stepped back and waited for further instruction.

As Kaito released Danzo and the Root Anbu, Hiruzen's stern gaze fell upon them. "Well then, we'll be off," he said calmly, his voice carrying a hint of disappointment. "And I'm also taking the Wood Style user with me."

Hiruzen led them out of the dimly lit Root base and back into the bustling streets of Konoha. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the village. They made their way through the winding streets until they reached Hiruzen's office.

Inside, Hiruzen sighed heavily as he looked at Kaito with a serious expression. "Why were you in the Root base, Kaito?" he asked, concern evident in his tone.

Kaito explained how he had been heading home when he sensed Kakashi rushing towards somewhere in a hurry. His chakra had felt panicked and worried, leading Kaito to follow him and finding him quite injured. When Kakashi was being attacked by Danzo and his men, Kaito had jumped in to help.

He added that he also felt the presence of one of the Root Anbu who had aided in the kidnapping of Hotaru for the Kumo envoy. Knowing that they were all under Danzo's command, Kaito thougth that eliminate them was the best option.

Hiruzen let out another heavy sigh before speaking again. "I'll handle it from here," he said firmly, turning to address everyone present. "You are all free to go home."

With a nod to the hokage, Kaito followed Kakashi out of the Hokage's office and into the darkening streets. The sky was painted with deep purples and oranges as the sun set behind the mountains. As they walked, Kaito couldn't contain his urgency any longer and turned to Kakashi, "I've been looking for you since the Daimyo mission, ya know!" he exclaimed, shaking his head exasperatedly. "Can we talk? It's really important."

Kakashi let out a small sigh but nodded in agreement, knowing he had something he needed to discuss with Kaito as well. Together, they made their way to their usual training ground near the Uzumaki residence. As they arrived, Kaito closed his eyes and reached out with his kagura's minds eye to sense if anyone was eavesdropping on them.

Before Kaito could even speak, Kakashi interrupted him with a stern tone, "That was really stupid thing you did back there it was reckless"

Kaito dismissed his concern with a wave of his hand, "You know what he did, right?" he asked Kakashi, who simply nodded in response. "He should have been executed for treason for what he did. You know it, but the Hokage is protecting him. Just like he did for Orochimaru."

Hearing this, Kakashi opened his mouth to say something but Kaito cut him off abruptly, "Leave that. There's something else I need to tell you," he said urgently.

Kakashi gave a small nod and Kaito continued with equal urgency, "I don't know how to say this...but I think I know who the masked man is."

Kakashi's eyes widened in surprise and he focused all of his attention on Kaito. With a serious look in his eyes, Kaito met Kakashi's gaze and uttered the words that would change everything, "It's Obito."
