14 Chapter 14: Audition (2)

(Enjoy the chapter, I won't update this weekend since I will be enjoying my birthday to the fullest. 3 birthday parties!)

————————————————————

The person before me just finished their performance. I am pretty impressed.

"Are you ready to go on stage Miss Snow?" The manager questioned.

I tried my hardest not to roll my eyes. 'Miss Snow!? Really?' I dismissed the annoying thought and nodded my head.

The manager brought the microphone to her mouth. "Our next contestant please come to the stage." She voiced into the microphone.

With my hood over my head, I made my way onto the stage. I stood in front of the mic. Waiting for the judges to ask the opening questions.

"Hello and welcome!" Ai initiated the conversation. "Can you tell us a little bit about yourself before we begin?"

I took that moment to pull my hood down, revealing my cute fox ears and my face. I gave a polite bow and introduced myself.

"Hello, my name is Kasumi Snow, I am 4 years old, and I will be acting today." I gave the judges and audience a small smile.

They looked a bit surprised to see me. I am a well known hero's daughter after all.

"Pleasure to have you here, good luck!" Hiromi smiled.

I was reassured about the story I would be acting out. The author didn't exist in this world so I can just say I came up with it. 'Sorry Author-san' I apologized mentally.

The story is about a child who was raised by her single father after his wife died. It was the anniversary of his wife's death so he was pretty depressed. They hailed from quite a poor family so they couldn't really afford to spend money on anything else but the essentials.

The daughter took it upon herself to cheer her father up since he was sad. She chose to make a gift for him.

After reviewing a summary in my mind, I immediately got into character.

"Daddy! Daddy!? Are you okay? Why do you look so sad?" my voice was full of emotion. My expression filled with worry.

I switched to the father role for the next lines. "I am sorry my little dove, but today is the anniversary where your mother passed away." His expression filled with sadness.

Soon it seemed like just the father and daughter were on stage.

****

I was half way done with my act by now. I enacted a scene where the daughter ran from the front door to look for the necessary materials for her gift.

The father ran towards the front door, calling out to his daughter, asking where she was going but he was to late.

****

The daughter was in the forest, picking flowers. She searched through her memories to see if she could remember what her mother's favorite flowers were.

She recalled that her mother's favorite flower was some thing called the "Moon Lotus." It is said to bloom under a full moon, which makes it so rare. Thankfully it was dark out and there was a full moon.

She stopped in her tracks when she found the Moon lotus. A bright, almost glowing flower stood besides a tree.

She picked up the lotus and handled it with care. A Moon lotus was pretty rare as it was.

She carefully placed the flower in her bag and made her way out of the forest to her home.

****

On her way home, she picked up her and her fathers favorite flowers as well. She opened her bag and put the two flowers next to the Moon lotus.

****

She opened her front door and called out to her father.

"Daddy! I'm home!"

Immediately, the sound of footsteps echoes across the house. The father came into view and ran to hug his daughter.

"Where have you been!?" Concern and fear was laced in his voice.

I took the flowers out of my bag and handed them to him. He took the flowers from her little hands.

"I'm sorry I worried you..I-I just wanted to make you feel better." Her lips formed a guilty smile.

The father looked down at the flowers with tearful eyes. Right on cue, Kasumi conjured the tears and played out the scene perfectly.

****

They father-daughter pair arrived at a grave. The daughter leaned down and placed the 3 flowers against the grave.

They spoke a few words that they needed to get off their chest. A few tears were shed here and there. Until they finally went home.

"Thank you, my little dove."

****

I finished it off with a bow. Applause radiated throughout the theater. The judges and audience member were standing and clapping. I noticed a few people, including 3 of the judges crying.

I wiped away the tears on my face from the scene previously. The applause died down and everyone was back in their seats.

"Very well done! Where did hear a story like this? I've never heard it before." Taishiro asked politely, still wiping away a lose tear.

"Thank you. Actually I wrote the whole thing a few days ago." I had a small smile on my lips. 'Again, sorry for taking your credit Author-san.'

"Say whaaaa…?" Ai gasped. I couldn't stop a chuckle from escaping.

"Well I think we all agree that you have passed. Right everyone?" Katashi called out toward the audience who erupted into cheers and applause.

I held my composure though and bowed politely to everyone. "Thank you for having me."

With those final words I made my way offstage. The moment I got back to the waiting room my mother almost tackled me in a hug. 'Geez woman!! Calm down!' I mentally screamed.

"Oh I'm so proud of you!!" She started peppering my forehead with kisses. 'Isn't this a bit of an over reaction?' I took a moment to think but came to the conclusion that this probably happens pretty often.

"Thanks mommy." I grinned widely, showing my long canines.
