"Seriously, couldn't you have stopped earlier? Now you're forced to lose hours because you weren't able to regulate yourself."

Although Mark was talking to Zoe, the latter was sleeping peacefully on his shoulders as she was carried.

The training was going well, they had found new magics that focused not only on power but also on usefulness in different situations. All this might have continued if it wasn't for the fact that Zoe refused to rest and decided to shoot magic until she went into mind down.

'sigh.'

Sighing Mark returned to the inn only to catch a few thumbs up, including Bors, which irritated him even more.

"I swear this is the last time. If you go mind down during training again, I'll let you sleep on the ground." -Entering Zoe's room, he laid her on the bed.

He already had a headache thinking about the rumors that would spread, so he decided to hurry out and see what he could do during these hours.

(A few hours later.)

"Hmm... my head seems to be bursting."

Still, under the effects of mind down, Zoe awoke uncomfortably, but her smile, which seemed brighter than the light coming through the window, seemed to tell a different story.

"My theory was right." -Although her head was still spinning, she got out of bed excited.

After spending some time in the dark world of her dreams, she thought her theory was wrong and when she was about to lose all hope, the door appeared before her.

The scene was mostly obscured and from what she could make out, she seemed to be dining at the table with other figures. She didn't get much information, but it was already a big step for her.

"Now I just have to repeat it, the effects of the mind down may not be the best, but it's worth it."

She clenched her fist determinedly, only to realize now that she was in the tavern room. Obviously, it was not difficult to realize that it was Mark who had transported her, making her feel guilty about it.

She was already grateful that he was helping her even though he was wasting his time, it would be shameless to expect him to look after her now that she had decided to go mind down after every training session.

Tidying herself up briefly, she left her room to go knock on Mark's door, but there was no answer. Believing he was already gone, Zoe went downstairs to Bors, who was leaning on the counter bored.

"Excuse me, Bors, do you happen to know where Mark went?"

"Hmm, you should join him at the usual place, that's the message he left."

"I see, thank you very much."

Giving a small nod, she walked out of the tavern and walked quickly towards Mark so as not to keep him waiting too long.

She quietly passed through the woods arriving at the area where they usually trained and there she could see him as he was training in front of the tree like the previous day.

'fush' 'fush'

Every time he swung his sword, the sound of the wind being cut could be heard as far as she stood, but the thing that surprised her the most was how he managed to destroy those sturdy trees with only scratches, for it meant he had swung his sword for hours to create such damage.

'Does he even rest?'-Doubt arose naturally in Zoe.

Although she hadn't spent many days with him, she had always found him awake or training, and considering he spent most of the day helping her, Zoe found it difficult how he supported such a pace.

"Mark."

Hearing someone calling his name, Mark turned around seeing that Zoe had arrived, so he re-sheathed his sword and wiped the sweat on his forehead with his arm, and then turned to her.

"Looks like yesterday's magics got you excited so much, that you fell asleep peacefully on the ground."

"Sorry."

Seeing her bend over as she apologized, Mark felt he was the villain of the situation so he tried to soften the situation.

"It's not that I'm angry, it's just that it would be problematic to carry you every time. Do you understand?"

"Of course, if I faint next time, you can leave me here too." -She said seriously.

"...Anyway, since yesterday was more of a form of study today we'll be sparring, try to use everything you've learned smartly."

"Yes."

The two moved far apart and then faced each other.

"Stone cannon."

The first to start was Zoe, pointing the tip of the spear toward Mark, a spike of stone was thrown at Mark at an absurd speed.

"!"

Having heard the spell, Mark immediately ducked, narrowly dodging the spike, which collided against the tree uprooting it.

"Isn't it a bit naughty to use that spell?" Mark asked as he got up.

"Wasn't it you who told me to do it?" -Said Zoe laughing.

The spell from before was created the previous day and consisted of putting an air barrier around the stone to be thrown, to reduce friction as much as possible as it flew, and the speed it achieved, was not something to be trifled with.

"If you want to play like that..."

Mark quickened his speed towards her as he saw Zoe cast another spell.

"Earth dome."

An earth dome formed around Mark, blocking all directions except those in front, where Zoe was, who still had her spear pointed at him.

"Fireballs."

Three fireballs were launched towards the entrance of the dome, the only way out for Mark.

'Booom!'

An explosion occurred, raising a dark cloud that covered the view, but even so, Zoe did not hesitate to cast the next spell.

"Earth pillar."

A stone pillar formed from beneath her feet, acting as a trampoline, sending her away from where she had been before, and she did well to do so because from the cloud, came out the figure of Mark intact. Just before the flames exploded, he had destroyed the ceiling, creating a way out.

Now the two were once again standing apart.

'How troublesome.'

With the versatility of Zoe's magic, it was already difficult to approach her when he was limiting himself, but since she had learned both the new magics and new approaches on how to use the old ones, it had become even more complicated.

Focusing on what was in front of him, he dodged the wind blades and then started running towards her.

"Stone bind." "Stone cannon."

When he heard the spell, he tried to move out of the way, but stone chains bound to his leg as the spike was already close to colliding with him.

'Crack.'

Putting more force on his leg, the chains snapped, and throwing himself to the side, he narrowly dodged the stone.

Seeing Mark on the ground, Zoe immediately cast the next spell.

"Fireballs - Ow!"

The sudden pain in her hand caused the tip of the spear to tilt too close to her, ending up in the blast radius.

'Booom!'

The shockwave made her rub against the ground for a while before she stopped. Meanwhile, Zoe looked up at the ceiling of the floor confused as to what had happened, when she heard someone approach and crouch down next to her.

'Tap.'

"Ouch... was that really necessary?" -She asked still lying down, as she held her forehead with a frown.

"For this situation not so much, but for my satisfaction yes." -Said Mark with a smile as pure as a saint.

"You... never mind, instead, what did you do to me before?" -Leaning up, that was what she wanted to know more about.

Without answering her, Mark showed her what was in his hand.

"Stones?"

"That's right, I threw it on your hand before you cast the magic, but I didn't expect such a result."

Of course, the part where he had put the aura on both his eyes and hand, to be as accurate as possible before throwing it, was avoided.

"So have I managed to put you in the slightest bit of crisis?"

"I'd say yes."

Hearing Mark's words, filled Zoe with satisfaction, though it was better if she waited until he had finished speaking.

"Considering I'm limiting my strength while not being used to it, I don't use my magic, my sword, and since I've leveled up, I still struggle to control my body."

"The ability with which you raise a person's morale and then lower it to the limit is noteworthy you know?" -She said with a wry laugh.

"If the compliment comes from the fairy queen, it's more than accepted." -Said Mark with an exaggerated bow.

"..." -Zoe was speechless at this person's shameless behavior.

"Rested?"

"You bet." -Seeing how he was smiling amusedly, it had become a personal matter for Zoe to hit him at least once.

(Author: In the next chapter I'll do a little time skip to the last day of training because that's where the plot will take a step forward, plus the War Game, will be different from the anime).
