David and Goliath(1)(corrected)

"Well, now we can talk calmly."

Sitting on the couch, Loki turned to Mark who was standing in front of her. As it was the morning of the next day, the journey to the 17th floor where Mark would challenge Goliath, had to be managed.

"I see, but why are they here as well?"

Mark turned curiously toward Finn and the others who were sitting on a sofa slightly away.

"A couple of them would have come to watch you anyway, speaking of which, Riveria could you go?"

"Alright."

"Perfect, now for the second person..."

"Oh! Me, me, pick me!"

Raising her hand vigorously was none other than Tiona.

"Then it's decided, you two will accompany this work fetishist."

"Oi."

"Can I come too?" -Aiz asked, raising her hand.

"No way, tonight Apollo is going to organize a party and I need you to accompany me, plus I'll be able to tease that midget about her poverty. I bet it will be a fun evening hahaha!"

Seeing Loki laughing and Aiz pouting, Mark could only shake his head helplessly.

"We would like to accompany you with more people, but I already know it would be inconvenient for you, plus our movements might attract the attention of annoying people."

It didn't take a genius to figure out that Finn was referring to the Evilus.

"Bring back up some good news, boy."

With a laugh, Gareth patted him on the shoulder which almost broke his back for how strong he was.

"Who knows maybe you'll make a nice snack for that monster."

"Bete."

"Tch."

With Finn scolding him, Bete clucked his tongue, but Mark didn't care. He had developed a skill that allowed him to ignore anything that wolf boy said since he knew nothing useful would come out form Bete's mouth.

"Do you need to prepare something else Mark?" -Riveria asked him.

"Just a few potions and I'm ready." -Mark said as he stood up.

It did not take long for him to retrieve some potions he had bought from what he had earned from the expedition, but their cost was quite a problem for Mark's finance, especially those for pain resistance.

'I have to try to make more money.'

With that thought, he headed toward the entrance, where both Riveria and Tiona appeared shortly after, ready for the dungeon.

"So how are you feeling Mark? -Tiona asked him as they approached the dungeon.

"I feel like I'm about to do something very stupid."

Mark was aware that it would not be easy, he still remembered the size of that monster and the strength it possessed, taking even one hit would be very bad.

"The fact that you are aware of this is already a big step." -Said Riveria satisfied with his words.

"You didn't think I was a battle junkie who had chosen to do this just to fight, I hope." -Mark asked looking at them suspiciously.

"..."

"Isn't that the reason?"

Looking wordlessly at Riveria who avoided his gaze and Tiona who looked at him in confusion, they walked embarrassed down the stairs to the dungeon.

" 'Cough' anyway, during the descent we will take care of making way, so you avoid wasting energy."

Recomposing herself, Riveria warned him, and he nodded quietly, as there was no problem for him.

The first floors were passed quickly, as the number of monsters was small, plus they were easily handled by Tiona.

'It seems like only yesterday.'

Seeing the speed with which they had almost reached the 13th floor, a feeling of nostalgia pervaded him as he remembered the difficulty he had to face on these floors. What he didn't know was that if anyone had listened to what he was thinking, they would have been spitting blood, considering that in less than 4 months he had reached a standard that would have demanded years from other adventurers.

The descent continued smoothly, the Middle Floors were not difficult if you had two level 6 adventurers by your side. in fact, after a few hours of walking through the various rocky tunnels, they arrived at the vicinity of the room where the Goliath was confined.

"We arrived fairly quickly, do you need to rest?" -Riveria asked.

"By the time I finish checking the equipment, it will be enough time to recover."

Mark checked that the armor was tight and that the sword scabbard was secured to his belt, he also checked the container at his waist, where there were 8 potions, 7 of which were for healing and one for pain. When he was sure he had everything ready he stood up ready to challenge the monster.

"Ready."

"Before you enter, listen. We can't get through the barrier, otherwise, the monster would focus on us being the biggest danger but remember this though, we will stay here and watch and the moment we consider you are unable to continue we will go in, okay?"

Riveria looked at him seriously as she spoke to him, now that they were there it was her responsibility to keep him safe.

"Then I will rely on you." -Mark said, nodding.

"Try to be careful okay?"

Although Tiona was smiling, he didn't need to see her aura to know she was worried. Even if they were checking that nothing happened, a fight was unpredictable and there was a risk that before they could do anything, it would be too late.

"I'm going."

Passing them, he walked over to the film covering the room and tried to touch it with his hand, although there was no substance.

'Breathe in.'

Taking a breath, he took a step forward, stepping over the barrier, and the moment he entered, his presence was immediately felt.

'tremors'

The room began to shake, and the wall where the boss's silhouette stood began to crack until it showed the monster's gigantic body rivaling a building. It had cadaverous gray skin, with muscles he knew would be difficult to damage, plus when the monster laid eyes on him, he felt the full weight of it.

'It is completely different from the spartoi.'

Its presence made him tighten his grip on his sword as he considered how to attack it, plus the fact that it barely reached his ankles didn't help.

'ROOOOOOOAR!'

A monstrous cry came out of the Goliath, enough to trouble even Mark who was standing far away.

'Golem Heart.'

<Specify target>.

He initially intended to face it for a while normally, but immediately changed his mind when even its cry caused damage.

'Kill the enemy.'

<Calculation percentage...probability unknown due to lack of information of current overall body strength after transformation, do you wish to proceed?>

'Yes, control the body, I'll take care of the rest.'

<Affirmative.>

Looking apathetically at his surroundings, Mark began to run toward the monster at full speed.

Goliath seeing Mark coming directed a fist in his direction, which broke the ground and generated a wind that fluttered Mark's robes, but he had already changed direction after noticing the shadow of the incoming fist.

Not giving up, Mark ran back toward the monster, but when he saw that it was about to attack him again, he sent three electric spears toward its face, which caused no damage to its eyes as it moved, but were enough to annoy the boss.

Having momentarily stopped it, Mark hurriedly headed for the monster's ankles, which were also a weak point.

Since Goliath was a humanoid monster, it possessed similar weaknesses, such as the tendon, which when cut would break the monster's stability by collapsing it and making it easier to take down.

When he was close enough, he charged the electricity on the blade and swung it full force at the tendon, but when the blade penetrated the skin, it stopped almost immediately because of the hardness of the innermost tissues.

He had to pull hard on the sword to dislodge it, and all he managed to do, was to make a not too deep cut. He tried to attack that point again, but Goliath lifted its foot, and foreseeing what he was about to do, Mark quickly retreated.

'BOOOM!

Like a wrecking ball being slammed into the ground, Goliath's foot sank slightly into the ground, and Mark, who had jumped back to avoid the blow, was pushed away by the shockwave until it reached the walls of the room, increasing their distance again.

'RAAAAAAAAA!'

Goliath's monstrous roar told Mark that the first challenge created by the dungeon for the Familias, would not be so easy to take down.
