22 54 expenditure 3 (Female titan encounter)

"We are in the center flank of the formation, meaning the titan couldn't attack us here without fighting the squads at the other end, that's a good thing right? Then why? Why do I feel this ache in my chest?" Ayato thought to himself as he rode his horse.

"I know exactly what happens, the right flank gets whipped out, and Annie comes charging here to capture Eren, hell I even know what this whole damn mission is about" He placed his hands on his chest, tightening his grip on his shirt.

"I don't know… have I been doing everything all wrong? Should I have revealed the intruders earlier, no! I doubt that would go well, damn it!" He slapped himself on the cheek trying to reassure himself.

Ava rode beside him, and with a smile on her face, she asked, "Are you feeling conflicted?".

"No, what makes you say that?"

"We all know, there's no way the other flanks haven't encountered titan attacks already, they might have even been scattered, the question is, how many of them will survive?" Ava asked.

Then suddenly, there was a black smoke signal, indicating that an abnormal Titan was attacking at the right flanks.

Ayato looked at the signal, "Underneath that signal, somewhere out there people are fighting for their survival," He looked away looking at the ground as he rode.

"Just so you know, I'll support whatever decision you make, regardless of the outcome," Ava said to Ayato, she had a serious look on her face.

"Why would you do that?"

"Call it a woman's intuition, I know you can help the humans, exterminate the titans, you just have to believe in that ability of yours"

"I see.." He took a deep breath, stopping his horse's movement but not before calling out to captain Levi.

"Captain Levi sir, I would like permission to depart from the flank," Ayato said.

"The hell are you saying?" Jin questioned.

"I have a bad feeling, my guts tell me the right flank might have suffered massive damage"

"And this is your concern, how?" Levi, giving no ear to what Ayato had to say, kept on riding, following the green signal as they came.

"Dude what are you doing?" Eren, feeling confused as to why Ayato would issue such a request.

"Captain-"

"You are to stay put, do nothing, say nothing until you've been given an order," Levi said, pointing his finger at Ayato as he rode.

"Ayato, do as you're told" Petra added.

Ayato, ignoring the orders he was given, stopped his horse and headed straight for the right flanks, "I'm sorry captain Levi, but you can punish me later!

In the anime, if I remember correctly the plan didn't work, Annie escaped, killing a lot of soldiers, I'm not going to let that happen, I'll take her down, right here!"He rode off.

"That stupid brat" Levi yelled.

"Do we go after him?" Gunter asked.

"No, there's no need" Levi saw Ava chasing after him from the back, "Hey Eren!" Levi yelled.

"Yes sir" The way Levi yelled caught him by surprise.

"Move an inch from there and I swear I'll cut you down," Levi said, and it was no wisecrack.

Meanwhile, Armin, Jean, and Reiner we're still taking on the female titan.

"The moves on this one, she's like a damn athlete," Jean said, tossing his body towards her while trying to find an opening.

"Jean, be careful, she's way smarter than you think-" Armin and his horse went flying when the female titan slammed her legs to the ground.

Spinning its body around, it was able to send Jean flying, but Jean didn't stop there.

He reattached his ODM gear to her body and maneuvered his way to her head, "There we go '', He sought to slice her nape that was now out in the open.

But luck wasn't on his side, Annie covered her nape with her hand, "Oh shit, not again, damn it"

The female titan reached out her hands and grabbed Jean in mid-air, placing her thumb on his head, she increased her force as she sought to crack his head open.

"Jean!" Armin yelled, he was on the ground, his face covered in blood, "Don't let that suicidal manic die for nothing!"

The female titan stopped, she removed her thumb from Jeans's head and focused her gaze on Armin.

"What? She stopped. What is Armin doing? " Jean thought to himself, he could feel the blood dripping from his nose as his body was being crushed by the female titan's hands.

Reiner was already approaching them on his horse, he brought out his blades getting ready to attack, "Damn it!" He scoffed.

"She was the one, She killed Eren, I saw it with my own two eyes, she stepped on him like he was a bug" Armin yelled.

The female titan raised both her feet once at a time, checking to see if she accidentally stepped on Eren.

That was when Reiner took his chance, he oared his body towards her, slicing off some of her fingers before grabbing Jean and tossing him to the ground.

He wanted to do it again but this time, aiming at her nape, just as he was moving towards that location the female titan caught him in mid-air.

Her entire hand covered him so fast that Jean and Admin thought he was dead.

"No way, Reiner?" Jean is shocked, as he watches the female titan pull the hand she trapped Reiner in closer.

With a slash, Reiner was out of the titan's grasp, he landed on the floor and grabbed Armin before making a break for it.

"Aww damn, with Mikasa taking all the spotlight I almost forgot how much of a badass he is" Jean smiled, but he was only just feeling relief.

"Come on, it seems she's not focusing on us anymore," Reiner said, Jean was following behind him, running as fast as he could to catch up.

The female titan got to her feet and changed her destination, she saw no longer heading for the upper right flank.

"Would you look at that? She's running home with her tail between her legs" Reiner laughed.

"No she's not," Armin said as he watched Annie increase her speed, "She's heading for the center–"

Boom!

They all turned to check when they heard the loud explosion that came from their back, Armin's eyes lit up as he watched.

Ayato appeared at the scene in his titan form, landing a very powerful blow to the female titan's jaw that sent her flying a few feet.

"I've waited months for this bitch!" Ayato gave out a loud roar.
