Chapter 0.2- Ubel

The message was as follows:

[Transmigrator whose destiny was interestingly distorted. In your world, has your strength already reached its peak?

You have been invited to join the Multiverse Mission Center (MMC), thereby obtaining the chance to achieve higher strength by defeating Protagonists in numerous Novel Worlds, after accomplishing the given missions. An orb would form in your mind after a decade. Your absorption of the orb would confirm your acceptance. Refusal would erase the memory of the message, including the orb, from the mind.]

'Hmm? That mental message resembled the system interface outlined in those novels. The being frowned, his gaze lost in thought.

If it were him thousands of years ago, when he had just left his planet and received such a message, he would immediately believe it.

He was still naive at the time, believing that systems were something 'omnipotent' that protagonists acquired in order to attain the pinnacle of power.

But after he reached his present level of strength, he realized that the system, or whatever similar to it, was all controlled by someone.

Why would there be a system that helps another one out of nowhere with no benefit? He didn't believe it

There were several cases of Heaven planting such 'systems' for its chosen. It would cause them to grow into fat sheep before slaughtering them to extract their energy source.

As such, he sought out the source of the communication right away. Nothing in this world could escape his eyes—Heaven and Hell included.

But what made him frown once again was the realization that he couldn't gather any important information from that message!

He glanced at the orb in his mental space after realising this. A reddish ball with some white imbedded in it soothed his soul as he looked at it.

But that wasn't all there was to it. He could feel his soul craving it, as if it were a source of nourishment.

'It seems to be some kind of welcome gift to this center.' The being nodded, pausing his soul from quickly absorbing the ball.

Nonetheless, he still gave it some thought after several years.

He had no way of becoming stronger any time soon. So, should he simply go ahead and absorb it?

He didn't have any responsibilities in this world, nor did he have anyone who was significant to him.

To prevent the being from achieving his current level of power, Heaven lured each companion that approached him. He already knew that relationships were only of benefit, with no such thing as love in them.

True. There might be somewhere in the world. But the many heartbreaks he'd suffered in this world made his heart harder than stone.

After some thought, the being made a final choice; he would absorb it and see what happened.

It was simply because... he was bored with nothing to do. And joining this center could get rid of his boredom?

He finally absorbed the orb after a century. Throughout the process, he felt his soul becoming stronger. Above and beyond anything this world could possibly aspire to accomplish.

His strength was left within his body, along with 0.001% of his soul. That much of his soul would be enough to rule the land with the strength he had previously, as he was now in as a puppet there.

After that, he could sense his soul floating for a long time in some strange emptiness, which strengthened his soul even more.

After a while...

[...Cough. It's been a hundred thousand years since your soul began absorbing the surrounding energy. There is only one gift left for the Host.]

The message jerked the being awake, and he could sense that his soul was capable of defeating ten of the previous him.

His soul seems to have overcome some previously imposed restrictions during the past hundred thousand years.

After a while, the being in his soul form looked around..

'System!' he exclaimed in his soul's mind space.

[Before any discussion, sign this contract.]

A contract appeared in the emptiness in front of him, about two pages packed together.

He roughly grasped what he had to accomplish after properly inspecting it for any disadvantages he may have been given.

He would go to numerous mission worlds, also known as Novel Worlds. Each would be ranked from F through S and have World Points (WP). The greater his level, the more points he would earn.

And he might enhance his soul by purchasing various products from the MMC's Center Store.

The welcoming gifts were the orb he previously absorbed, the 100,000 years of seclusion within the system space he was just in, as well as a usable Lottery Ticket.

He infused the contract with a little amount of his soul essence after removing a small portion from it.

[Can you tell me your name, host? Every time you spoke, I heard you refer to yourself as This Being. And I'm sure you won't be using your original name from that world again in the future. So, what exactly would it be? Decide. In every world you would be transferred to, your name would be picked as the villain's name.]

Following that, the system, which appeared as a light ball in his mind space, waited patiently.

The being began to consider it. He did not, in fact, address himself by name. He began to consider a suitable name...

'Address me as Ubel, then. ' After a while, Ubel said.

Ubel meant evil in a language he knew from his home planet, which was an intriguing name for a villain.

The system, afterwards, circulated in its orb form for a while...
