"Ran! Wake up! I need help!" Hae-Ran's mother, Reina shouted.

We all know that Reina isn't her real mother, but let's not ruin the plot by telling Ran!

"Uh-Huh? 5 more minutes!" she replies before turning on her stomach.

"No 5 more minutes! Get up I need help with the bakery!" Reina shouted again, trying hard to wake Ran up.

Hae-Ran and Reina ran a bakery together to earn their daily living, but they don't have much income.

"mhm...." Ran started and drooled on her pillows, drowning in sleep again.

"Ran I swear If you don't wake up in 1 minute, I'll come upstairs!" her mother shouted once again.

The thought of her mother coming up the stairs with a sandal in hand, terrified Ran, so her eyes shot open almost immediately.

"No need mother! I'm up!"

"Good! And no conversations with birds! You'll be late"

Hae-Ran had been born with many special abilities. Many of which she hasn't yet discovered. Talking with birds and animals is one of them. Because of these abilities, she isn't often accepted as a normal citizen in her village. People call her 'witch of the animal tongue' just because she can talk to animals.

Her special abilities come with a price, she gets hot tempered after she uses them. So she's rarely seen using them.

Mostly, her village is occupied by humans, but there are creatures or half-bloods there too. Hae-Ran is rumored to be a cunning fox or a evil jackal. But all that is a load of crap. She doesn't even know her own species.

People think she might be of great harm, but what can a mere 14 turning 15 little girl do? Why do they accuse her?

The first rankers: They are the legendry species; the wolfs, dragons, Banshees, Centaurs, Phoenix and Sphinx. These species consist of; jackals, bears, lions, tigers, fairies, dwarfs, demons, fallen-angels and etc...etc

The next species are nor common nor rare, they are the middle rankers for example; rabbits, ravens, horses, goats, sheep and you get what I mean.

The last are the most common of them all; kangaroos, bulls, koalas, platypuses and others.

And most of the time, they aren't ranked fairly.

The Law Of The Kingdom, also known as the LOTK are the ones who rank the citizens. They are the ruling party, since the king and queen of this kingdom had died. These people have been decided to be the rulers till they find the missing kid of the previous rulers. And that kid is rumored to be of one of the richest families.

Now let's get back to the story!

Ran puts on her top and quickly grabs her apron before racing down the stairs.

"I'm here mother!"

"Ah! Good! Eat your breakfast now, we'll leave in 10 minutes. Oh right I need to tell you something!"

"Yes mother?"

"I won't be able to be there in the bakery today, so bake 5 batches of bread and hand 2 of them to Ms.Lee and 3 to Mr.Kim"

"Fineeeee"

After some time of Don't-shove-food-down-your-throat-young-lady

"I'm done!" Ran says, wiping the remains of food off of her face.

"Yes you are, now go wash the dishes and arrange them in the rack!" Reina ordered,

"Yeah, yeah" Ran replied and got up from her seat picking up her plate before walking to the pump to wash them.

"One more thing Ran"

"If I don't come back by mid morning, let it be. I have some important work to do."

"ok..." Ran replies but inside her:

"I'll not let you go that easily. I'll search for you if you don't come back by mid morning. I don't care what you say, but I want you safe." She thinks and smiles to herself. Once when Ran was left alone to take care of the shop and Reina had to go out like this day. And Reina lost her way, she couldn't get back home and Ran had to search for her.

Ran finishes washing the dishes, as she thinks.

"Ran! Come on let's go!"

"Coming!" The 15 year old girl replies as she sets the plates in the rack, switches the fire off and closes the window.

Putting on her shoes, she skips along the lonely streets, with her mother trailing behind.

Soon they reached their bakery.

Ran opened the door, inhaling the warm and delicious scent of freshly baked cakes.

Twirling on one foot she reached the counter.

"Ran! I'm leaving! Take care of the shop and don't use your abilities" her mom whispered the last part.

"Yeah! Alright!" Ran replied, in a way way more louder voice than required. Opening the door, her mother was greeted by weird stares and glares from the passers by. Shrugging, she left the shop.

"Now it's up to me!" Ran says as though the world relies on her shoulders. (remember the legend where one god had to carry the earth on his shoulders, I think it's Zeus, who is it actually? I'd like a comment here ;) )

Whistling, she picked up the dough and molded it before putting it inside the oven.

"Now to wait!" she said to the air and flopped down on the chair beside the counter.
