25 Chapter 25 - The First Mission

A car ride later, Gojo, Sachiko and Maki stood in front of a creepy old apartment.

"We're here!" Gojo announced as he pointed to the apartment building. "This building you see right here is a place where there had been multiple incidents of people disappearing. Two of you have to find the curse responsible for this and exorcize it. Good luck!"

"Wait...how many people has disappeared here? Do we need to find the people?" Sachiko asked.

"I believe there were ten people..."

Before Gojo could finish, Maki interrupted, "ten people?!"

"Yepp! and no one was ever found. Not even remains!"

"You realize this should be at least Grade-2 mission.. Me and a newbie is.." Maki protested but Gojo was already putting the curtain and preparing to leave.

"Oh, I almost forgot. I believe there are more than one curse at work. Good luck!" Gojo said as the curtain trapped Sachiko and Maki.

"That idiot.." Maki said with gritted teeth.

"Wow, I thought he would be nicer as a teacher." Sachiko said as she lazily poked the curtain with her fingers.

Maki looked at Sachiko who was playing around and said, "That idiot being nice? Never."

"Really?" Sachiko sounded disappointed.

"Now, stop poking that curtain and come help me!" Maki said, annoyed. She didn't understand how this new girl could be so calm about this. Didn't she hear that there could be more than one curse here?

Sachiko stepped away from the curtain at least and started heading to the entrance.

"Let's go!" She said, hopping over the stairs.

"Now you're excited again.." Maki muttered. She just hoped this new girl would be half-decent when dealing with the curses or else, she would lose her mind.

Maki followed Sachiko onto the stairs and soon, they got to the second floor.

"Hey, do you know what the curse would look like?" Sachiko asked.

"Huh? Why would I know? That idiot didn't give any other information." Maki said, annoyed.

"Really? Here I thought he said something important while I was spacing out." Sachiko said as she now randomly knocked on the doors of the abandoned rooms.

"What ...are you doing?" Maki asked, not naving any more energy to chastise her for spacing out earlier.

"Knocking on doors." Sachiko answered, "Maybe a curse would open the door." She then laughed at her own words.

"Come on, that's funny!" She insisted.

It took Maki a lot of self-control to not snap. "No."

"Fine." Sachiko said with a pout.

They continued walking for a while and Maki noticed that there were no curses in sight, not even the flyheads.

Maki was a bit puzzled before she caught sight of what Sachiko was doing, again.

There were two flyheads attached to the soles of her boots and she was bouncing around with her boots.

"Hey, look! They won't disappear if you don't use cursed energy so you can use them as foot cushions!" Sachiko said in an upbeat voice, tempting Maki to just push her through the balcony.

"Can you stop fooling around?" Maki said with difficulty.

"No." Sachiko said with a smile. "Why would I? This is so much fun!"

"You're the only one having fun." Maki said.

"That's because you're being so stiff. Come on, let's have fun together. These things are so weak, you can just do whatever you want." Sachiko said, grabbing another flyhead and throwing it across the corridor like a ball of paint.

"You're sick." Maki muttered. "What about the actual curses we are supposed to find?"

"We find them and kill them. Simple." Sachiko replied.

"Did you not hear that they could be at least Grade-2? And if there are more than one, I'm still not sure if we would make it." Maki said.

"Nah, we should be fine. Aren't grade 2s pretty weak?" Sachiko replied.

"Weak?" Maki raised her voice, "What grade even are you? You just started so aren't you like a Grade-4 yourself?"

"Oh..Satoru said something about me being special case and stuff and told me they were giving me special grade." Sachiko said.

"Special grade? If you're lying.." Maki couldn't finish her sentence because Sachiko handed her her student ID.

It included Sachiko's name and her special grade status.

"Wait...you're actually special grade?!" Maki exclaimed.

"Yep," Sachiko replied.

"No wonder we aren't running into a flood of curses." Maki muttered. She had noticed that except for a few flyheads Sachiko was torturing, they didn't run into any flood of low grade curses. And, even the curse they were supposed to be finding had yet to make any move.

"Have you exorized curses before?" Maki asked, "Or did you just find out about Jujutsu recently?"

"I've known it since I was young. I just didn't want to be jujutsu sorcerer at first." Sachiko said, "But yeah, I've killed a few of those curses."

"You mean exorcize them?"

"Exorcize, kill.. same difference." Sachiko said with a shrug.

"They are not the same-" Maki was cut off by a loud bang coming from the other side of the corridor.

"Oh, seems like our little curse friends found us!" Sachiko said happily which made Maki uncomfortable.

"Do you mind if I play with them?" Sachiko turned towards Maki and asked.

Maki looked at her as if she had grown a second head before saying, "Do whatever you like as long as-"

"Thanks, bestie!" Sachiko said, choosing to hear only what she wanted before running towards the banging noise.

"...." Maki sighed, hoping Sachiko wouldn't do anything that outrageous.

---------------

Maki regretted every decision she made since this morning, including showing up to that class which led her to getting paired up with Sachiko for this mission. She regretted saying what she said even though Sachiko was the one to not listen to what she was saying properly.

She gritted her teeth and swore she would kill Sachiko after this as a flood of curses rushed towards her for some reason. Maki suspected Sachiko was something to do with it, because she looked like she was having the time of her life while fighting with two curses that should at least be a semi-grade 1. Not only that, Sachiko was also saying stuff like the curses should all unite and attack her.

Maki had no problem with that, if Sachiko wanted more trouble, she could have it. It was just that Sachiko's antics seemed to be making her caught up in this chaos.

More curses were flooding around her and Maki had to take each of them down with her cursed tool.

It was annoying and Maki couldn't understand why on earth Sachiko was having this much fun.

Then, she noticed the three curses sneaking up on Sachiko. Maki was about to warn her when Sachiko chuckled and kicked a curse straight to one of the curses that was sneaking up on her.

"Hey, it's not nice to sneak up to people like that! Too bad I know that was gonna happen tho." Sachiko said before grabbing one curse and toss it to the other one.

She was tossing them around and kicking them across the corridor until she felt like she had enough fun.

Then, well, Maki saw her blasting the curses off with just her cursed energy, getting all the other weak curses caught up in the blast as well.

"It's over, bestie!" Sachiko waved to Maki.

"How the heck did you do that.."

"Cursed energy." Sachiko replied, "They were weak so I didn't even need to use any cursed techniques."

"They were grade 1.."

"Yeah, only grade 1." Sachiko replied, "But, bestie, I saw you fight earlier and you look so badass with your cursed weapon. Do you think I can get one too?"

Maki was taken aback at her comment, like she just blasted three whole grade 1 curses and the rest of the curse hoarde with sheer cursed energy, yet she thought Maki looked badasa because she was using a cursed tool. She was also a little annoyed at the same time because Sachiko kept calling her bestie for some reason and her clear disregard for proper terms or behavior. So, Maki found herself saying, "It's called cursed tools. Call them properly and no, don't call me bestie."

"Yeah, same difference. And why not? We're the only girls in our class. We should become besties!!! You know girls should support girls." Sachiko kept saying and now, Maki noticed that she was getting closer to her as if she wanted to hug her.

"You're as annoying as that idiot." Maki muttered.

"Thank you, bestie. How do you know I'm striving to annoy everyone at school? Like do you have a sixth sense or something? That's so cool.." Sachiko kept saying.

"Shut up..just..shut up." Maki sighed.

-----------------

Gojo was actually studying the scene from afar and he was quite amused with how Sachiko was handling this. She seemed to be enjoying this way too much even, so much so that he even started to wonder how much more of his workload he could dump on her.

Then, he saw a three Grade-1 curses appeared to attack her all at once. He watched as Sachiko let out a chuckle before toying them around even more, tossing the two curses at each other before she blasted them off with cursed energy. He had to admit tho, the way Sachiko uses her cursed energy was kind of calculated yet somewhat reckless. She did not seem to care how much cursed energy she was using up or how she could be more efficient with cursed energy as she seemed to have no problem using more cursed energy if that meant she could have more fun.

Normally, that wasn't a good habit but Gojo knew with the amount of cursed energy she had, that likely wouldn't be a problem.

"Well, that's always great to have one really capable student that I can give my work to." Gojo muttered.
