Chapter 15

(A/N: The 'bad parts' part continues! Please forgive me and just bear with me for 2 more chapters)

I was wrong.

My 'plan' hadn't worked at all, in fact, it had the potential to change the entire Wizarding World itself! I wished it was an exaggeration but unfortunately, it was the truth. My 'plan' had far reaching consequences beyond what I thought it would...

Immediately after shutting the door to Dumbledore's office, McGonagall started lecturing me while the rest seated themselves. I let her words flow in to one ear and out from the other. I did take care to use my poor acting skills to act as if I was seriously listening and was ashamed rather than my true feelings. Though I suspect Dumbledore and Snape had seen through me.

Anyways, after the impromptu scolding session, things took on a serious tone.

Dumbeldore looked me in the eye and spoke kindly, "Take a seat, Mr. Arrington" as he conjured a seat out of thin air, which I was sure I would be able to do by my third year. I made sure my occlumency defenses were working at full capacity and I started thinking of random stuff, (mostly naked images of all the people present here, which was...gross, very gross) not staying on a single thought for long. I was using my second Mind to act normally and converse but my main Mind was fully focused on operating my occlumency defenses. I wasn't taking any chances with two accomplished Legilimens in the room.

Dumbledore's kind voice brought me out of my reverie and I found myself already seated. Huh, I guess my second Mind was doing its part.

"Calm down, Mr. Arrington. You're not in trouble. In fact, you should be awarded House points, not detention."

I was blown away by this remark and it took me a while to compose myself. Cautiously, I spoke, "You mean to say, that I am going to be forgiven for..all that commotion?"

"Children are prone to create nuisances, Matthew. It doesn't mean they should be punished for every one of those minor offences."

"Er.. umm.. thank you sir, but why should I be awarded House Points? Yes, I agree that my spell is good but-"

"Good?! Your spell, if it does as you say, will change the entire magical world, you fool!" I was interrupted by Snape suddenly shouting at me, in what was an average person's normal volume.

Change the world? How will my spell cha-

The implications of what my spell was capable of finally hit me like the force of truck. I suddenly started hyperventilating, and my entire body started getting clammy. It took the entire amount of self-control I possessed to calm myself enough to use my occlumency to consciously control my emotions and gain a semblance of normalcy.

Dumbledore and the Professors were surprised to see me go from anxious to calm in seconds, and I knew they had figured out I knew enough occlumency to do that.

"Well, aren't you full of surprises, Mr. Arrington." Snape said in a calm voice, scrutinising me. I don't know if he was mocking me or not, but I sure felt like he was.

"I try, Professor." I shot back, mimicking his tone.

"Enough!" Dumbledore raised his voice a little and this time when he spoke, it wasn't with kindness, but with a seriousness I didn't knew he possessed, his grave voice automatically making me sit up straight and listen properly. "Before we begin further discussions, kindly show us this spell, Mr. Arrington." He handed me a book as he spoke, one that had nothing written on its cover to indicate what it was.

I obliged, casting my weakened modified version of the spell, and suddenly I knew what was in the book. It was a bunch of childish fairy tales, as expected of Dumbledore.

"So, Mr. Arrington, have you ever read this book?"

"No, Headmaster."

"Alright, I am choosing to believe you. Now, tell me, what is written on the second line of page 64..."

The questioning went on for a while, with the rest of the Professors joining in as well, each handing me a book from their personal collection (they weren't anything really special) and then asking me to recite the stuff written in the books, sometimes backwards as well, and by the end, I could tell all of them were suppressing their excitement but they also simultaneously seemed worried.

Dumbledore finally opened his mouth after a series of hushed discussions with the rest of the people present there. "Mr. Matthew, you are free to go. You have my permission to teach the students who are willing to learn your spell but you must make them sign this." He handed me a contract, and showed me how to create more.

"Don't fret, it isn't anything dangerous, merely precautions. You are also awarded 50 House Points, the reason for which should be evident and now you're free to go. Before you go, however, a word of advice, the next time you create something like this, please don't announce it in front of the entire school." He said, sighing heavily at the end, the rest of the Professors also looked weary but satisfied.

"Ah, Headmaster, I have another spell as well..."

"Wait, calm down, calm down sir!...It isn't anything dangerous! It's great in fact! ....Professor, she fainted! Why aren't you doing anything?....It was a joke, alright?" I ran frantically out of the hell that the office had turned into, deciding to show them my GPS spell some other day...

(Scene - Break)

I had pacified the bunch of noisy students who were waiting for me at the Great Hall with promises of starting classes soon. One problem solved, I started to look around for the second.

I couldn't find her so instead I left for the library. The Gryffindor Common Room would most probably be too noisy and nosy for my comfort and I decided to forego the Room of Requirements because I wanted to take a break, of sorts.

In the library, I decided to look for language books. It would be good to learn more languages, and since I had free time, I decided to do just that.

Hogwarts had a very extensive library, because I found books on all languages that I had an interest in. I decided to learn the European languages and also, gobbledygook, the language of the goblins.

I was scanning all the books while commanding my second Mind and parts of my first Mind to fully focus on comprehending the books on the vocabulary, grammar, alphabets, syntax etc. of the various languages I was learning. I was so immersed in the joys of learning a language so easily and quickly (I wouldn't be nowhere near a native's level and my accent would be horrendous, but it was still good) that I almost missed Hermione sitting at a table, angrily flipping books. She wasn't even using my spell which definitely spelled disaster for me. If her anger (Hermione Granger angry while surrounded by books?!) and boycotting of my spell didn't clue me in to what she was currently feeling, her occasional mutters surely did. I could faintly hear something like "Matthew.....scum...kill....".

That sounded...ominous..

However, it was time to try to make amends with her.

Or die trying.
