1 A Visitor In The Geto Household

"Ah, excuse me." A tall, buff man spoke politely as he entered the house, removing his shoes and replacing them with a pair of seldomly used guest slippers. "I hope I'm not disturbing you, coming at such short notice."

With his dark sunglasses providing cover for his eyes, he discretely studied the layout of the house.

"No, no! My class teacher already told me you were coming a few days ago." A teenager with fox-like squinted eyes said, rubbing the back of his neck as he welcomed their guest. "Yaga Masamichi-san, right?"

"Yes, but just Yaga-san is fine." The older man nodded, focusing his attention to the boy in front of him as he was lead to the living room.

Geto Household, Hidariwakibara Cho, S Prefecture, Japan.

The Geto Household, despite being a decently sized house in the upper-middle class part of the residential street, was actually home to only two people; a 14 year old boy, Geto Suguru, and his younger brother, the 5 years old Geto Shimizu.

According to the investigation reports of the windows in the area, the parents of both boys have been absent nearly the whole year round, leaving the older brother, Suguru, to manage the house alone while caring for his younger brother despite also being a child himself.

But, Geto Suguru was still a student so, during the times that he couldn't take care of his younger brother, Geto Shimizu would be sent to their neighbors, the Saiki family to be taken care of.

Fortunately, their scumbag parents didn't forget to send them money each month in a timely manner or else the first thing Yaga would have done was to call the police and child services as soon as he learned of the matter.

As Yaga was studying the Geto Household, unknown to him, he was actually being studied back.

"I want a blueberry cheesecake." At the top of the stairs, Geto Shimizu whispered to the air as he curiously watched the strange ojii-san who was currently being served tea by his nii-san.

Moments after he spoke, a slice of blueberry cheesecake appeared beside him on a cute cat face plate with an equally cute kitty fork, followed by a glass of warm milk which materialized seconds later as if it were an afterthought.

Shimizu giggled quietly, happily digging into his cake as he continued spying on their house guest.

In truth, he shouldn't be eating this cake, with him not having eaten dinner yet, and his brother forcefully limiting his sweets intake when his tooth started hurting a week ago. But, who told him to have an invisible parent called Player who spoiled him so much?

Anyways, it's been two years since Player started taking care of him in this way and so far, nothing bad ever happened yet, so it means, continuing like this is fine, right? Plus, no one will notice anything related to Player no matter how absurd it is.

Even the sudden appearance of an extravagant fireworks display on the night of his previous birthdays didn't attract any suspicion. Their neighbors had just happily admired it without questions and treated it as a pleasant surprise.

Even his older brother who was with him the most didn't think anything was amiss. Perhaps, the only one who could tell that something was going on was the neighbor's son who was a year younger than Suguru. But that was only because Kusuo-nii could hear what he was thinking. Basically, he cheated so he wasn't counted.

Hmm? What is this?

"A school for Jujutsu Sorcerers?!" Underneath the staircase, Suguru exclaimed, not much in shock but more on confusion. "Such a thing actually exists?"

"Yes. There are currently two in Japan. One in Tokyo, and another in Kyoto. I assume you already know what it's for, considering the things you are able to see." Yaga said knowingly, his voice even as though he were talking about the weather instead of opening a new world to a young boy.

"The things I can see? You mean there are other people who can see them too? I'm sorry, but please provide me some proof." Suguru said dubiously. So far, only he has been able to see those strange and ugly things among the people he knows. It was right for him to feel suspicious when someone he had only known for less than an hour suddenly said there was a school dedicated specifically for people like him.

For all he knew, this guy might be someone who worked in a mental institute!

"You're suspicious. That's fine. You should be." Instead of feeling offended by the teen's doubts, Yaga nodded in approval as he placed a small cage covered in a black cloth on the table.

"Now, underneath this cloth is a sealed cage, and inside the cage is a low leveled curse called Fly Head. They're very common and incredibly weak." Yaga introduced briefly and pulled off the cover, revealing its contents to the boy who may or may not be his future student. "I assume you've seen them flying around before."

"That-" Suguru paused, his eyes shifting from the cursed spirit in the cage to the man in front of him, not knowing whether to feel elated that the man really was telling the truth about there being more people like him, or to feel apprehensive about there being more people like him. Instead, he just cleared his throat and smiled politely. "So these are called Curses?"

"Before I explain, that child who's eavesdropping upstairs, maybe you should come down and join us instead. It might be helpful for you to know more in advance." Yaga looked upwards, meeting the eyes of their little spy.

"Yaga-san, my brother can't-"

"Nii-san, what's that? It's really ugly." With his nose crinkled in disgust, Shimizu stared at the ugly thing in the cage while wiping away his milk mustache.

And just like that, squinted eyes became normal sized eyes as an older brother gazed at his younger brother in shock.

Since when had he been able to see them?!

...

"And that's why I'll be staying with you next year, Kusuo-nii." Shimizu huffed as he finished recounting the events which took place at the Geto Household the night before.

"No, you didn't explain at all why exactly you have to stay here." Saiki Kusuo, local pink-haired psychic, and nominal baby-sitter of the neighborhood's self-proclaimed cutest child, sighed in resignation.

"Isn't that obvious?" Shimizu crossed his arms and puffed his cheeks. "That's because, after the spring break, nii-san will be a third year, and next year, he'll go to that Juji- Juju...?"

"Jujutsu."

"Right! He'll go to that Jujutsu School for High School. But, that's in Tokyo, and he has to stay in the dormadurry all the time and no one can take care of me at home!" Shimizu angrily stuffed the last blueberry jelly into his mouth. "Thmff brotheh steellrrh! Olff manh!"

"It's dormitory." Saiki shook his head in exasperation and began disposing the scattered snack wrappers into the trash bin with a wave of his hand.

Almost immediately after the wrappers had been disposed off, a flash of light appeared and more snacks materialized out of nowhere, each of them being blueberry flavored.

"Anyways, that's basically it." Shimizu nibbled on a blueberry Pocky. "Kusuo-nii, just because you can read people's minds and want to be ordiary doesn't mean you should stop using your brain."

"It's ordinary." Saiki corrected with an unimpressed expression. "Yare-yare. Have you said thank you yet?"

"Oh! I forgot!" Raising his head towards a certain spot in the ceiling, the black haired child smiled brightly, squinting his cat-like blue eyes. "Thank you, mama!"

Somehow, the space he was looking at seemed to warp and shake several times. A few moments later, pink bubbles began to fill Kusuo's bedroom, causing the boy to crinkle his nose in distaste, raising his hand to disperse the bubbles but, before he could, a box of premium coffee jelly appeared in front of him.

Suddenly, the pink bubbles in the room increased.

"Mama is pleased." The enlightened child, Shimizu, nodded to himself. "Kusuo-nii is also pleased."

At this time, a new notification popped up.
