122 Chapter 122: Engagement

While the others were restoring and fixing the damage caused by Serafall in the surroundings and the Beach House, Harry, Rias, Sona, Sirzechs, and Grayfia were gathered in a room together. Harry literally couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was so absurd that he at first believed they were joking, but Serafall's reaction gave the whole thing credibility. After all, this was absolutely how a fanatic Siscon would react to such news.

"Please tell me you are joking," Harry pleaded desperately as he looked at each of the other four occupants in the room, who all had serious looks on their faces. His gaze finished on the violet eyes, hidden behind the other pair of glasses. "A chess game? Are you serious?"

The embarrassed look away and the pink blush on the cute face of the bespectacled girl with the black-haired bob cut were all he needed as confirmation.

"Well, I now know what your major sin is, at least." Harry sighed in defeat. "What is that supposed to mean?" Sona asked, offended. "Isn't it obvious? Only an extremely proud person would bet something as significant as their marriage for the next thousands of years on their chess skills. Seriously, a lot depends on a lucky coin toss about who would begin with white. In the end, chess is just statistics, and a masterful player is able to maximize his winning chance with the right color. Even a player not as skilled as you could have quite the high chance of beating you with a lucky toss," Harry pointed out incredulously. After all, chess is nothing more than a more complex version of tic-tac-toe, and the first move determines the majority of the game.

"Ehm, I didn't quite consider that when I made the deal with my parents," Sona admitted sheepishly. "Yeah, that is behavior I would have expected of a hothead like Rias," Harry replied, making Sirzech chuckle from the side while Rias looked at him in offense. Harry looked at her with a look that said dare me, as he was so tired of this sh*t today, before turning towards Sona. "So we are engaged? Is there any way out of this?"

Sona looked quite hurt at these words: "What!? Am I not good enough for you?" She asked before looking down at her chest and looking at Rias' developing boobs.

"That's not what I mean. I have no problem acting as a shield for you, defending your freedom from potential dislikable suitors. With Riser, I have seen quite a lot of dislikable and arrogant young devils wanting to protect my friends," Harry pacified her with his hand raised placatingly. "But I don't want you to be forced to marry someone you never wished to. Like with Rias, I want you to be able to choose who you want to marry yourself."

These words made Sona's head turn a deep shade of red: "Eh, I don't really know. We didn't determine a release condition. I don't believe you could even break the contract from your side. My parents were quite determined about this deal; it took quite a lot of convincing, and I was so sure of my skills by then. Honestly, it is my own fault; you really don't need to look for a way out for me. I am ready to live with the consequences," Sona stammered, trying to find the right words.

Rias interrupted her instead: "No, we will continue looking for a way out of this deal for you, Sona. I neither want two of my best friends, including my pawn, to be forced into a marriage."She gritted out while intensely staring at Sona, who replied with a similar intense stare.

Harry could have sworn there were lightning flashing between their eyes before he refocused himself. "Don't worry, Sona, we will find a way for you to find happiness." He said it again, making the girl blush. Next, he turned towards Sirzechs and Grayfia, who had followed the conversation with great interest. "Is there any way that you know of to break such a contract?" He asked in hope; after all, a way to break a magical contract without a loophole or exit condition would be a major boon, not only for this deal but any future one.

"Hmm, that's a difficult feat. The only way I know of for sure to break a magical contract is through overwhelming power; you would have to go against the universe itself. And I mean overwhelming power, on a similar level to beings like Ophis and Great Red. After all, a magical contract is directly bound into the laws of the universe by both parties," Sirzechs admitted, quite amused by the whole situation, though the reaction of Rias gave him a bit of jealousy. "Although there are legends about different ways, But I never heard of any confirmed way; maybe you will be able to find something if you look for it."

"I see…" Harry muttered. Probably Chaos Magic could break such a contract, but considering that such a massive amount of power was needed to break a magical contract, it wouldn't be a small feat either. Changing reality may be even more expensive than breaking the contract. "What will we do about Serafall? Will I be able to return to the Underworld, or do I have to hide?"

"Eh, this matter is quite troublesome. It will already take a lot to gloss things over with Heaven. And I am not sure how Serafall will react once she wakes up," Sirzechs admitted, embarrassed. He had sent her back to the underworld right now, but she wasn't in the right state of mind to be considered a person who would act rationally or sanely.

"So do I have to hide for the rest of my life now? Or at least until I am strong enough to survive a fight against her?" was the deadpan response that Harry had for the crimson-haired Satan and his wife, Maid. Both of them looked embarrassed.

"Well, I wouldn't say for so long. I am sure Sona will be able to calm her down enough to not turn you instantly into a popsicle," chuckled Sirzechs before continuing, "but it will take some time. I can make sure she stays in the underworld for now as punishment for what she did here."

"And what about me?" Harry pointed out that, after all, he was still living in the underworld for a few weeks.

"How about you spend the rest of the summer in the Wizarding World? From what I heard, Tonks was about to return herself since her holidays were ending. You can go with her; I can pay for a room in the Leaky Cauldron. Enough time for you to thoroughly explore the secrets of Diagon Alley" was Sirzech's honest offer, or better said, his only idea right now: stay away from Serafall. "I am sure Sona will be able to calm her down enough until the next summer holidays."

"So no Christmas in the Underworld again this year?" Harry asked dryly with a sigh.

"It seems so; I am really sorry," Sirzechs replied apologetically. "But look at the bright side; you have a cute fiancée now!" This made Sona blush once again.
