3 Record Label

Violet looked at the building of "RedStar records" in front of her, and examined her surroundings. She was here on the call of her uncle who asked her to come to studio today.

She was really curious about this recently created record label "RedStar". She doesn't know how the label will treat her, but considering that orignal Violet's uncle is one of the executives of the label, and the conditions of contract in her memory were also good.

She has signed with the label for 5 albums which is the usual operation of newly signed artists. Her royalties distribution ratio is 50/50 profit. It is profit sharing ratio, not earning sharing ratio. There is a big difference between the two. Profit share of a music artist is calculated by first cutting all the expenses and distributors fee from the total earnings, and only then is the remaining profit shared between the artist and label. 50/50 profit share is a very good condition for a music artist, especially for new ones. But most important of all, she owns the rights to her own masters. It means that all the music she will create and her albums will be owned by her.

Everything looks very good from outside, now she has only one thing to worry about one thing, and that is about the resources label can utilize. She isn't expecting much, but they must at least the level where she can release a single and label can fully promote it.

For the new artists, promoting their music is a very important thing. They have no prior fan base and can only promote their music through radios, streaming platforms, talk shows and other festivals and ceremonies. These all resources are the responsibility of label to provide. That's why, it's a very important thing for her that if her label is competent.

In some cases, big agents can also help artists with these resources, but she doesn't an agent yet. She never signed one after the contract with previous one expired. It can't be said that it was she who didn't sign, because the situation was that no good agent was willing to sign a client like her whose future career prospects were close to none.

As for the saying that you can find an agent just by walking on the streets of Hollywood, that phrase is a complete lie. Because those people are more of pimps than agents. So now, all her hopes were currently placed on the label till she finds a good agent.

Looking at the building in front of her one more time, Violet stepped in.

She went directly to the production studio in her memory, and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

A voice came from inside. Violet opened the door and entered the production studio where she might will create music from now on.

She looked at the three people sitting in front of her. Two of them looked young, from early to mid thirties, while the last one was middle aged, must be above 45. She identified two of them from her memory.

Sitting in the middle was the owner of label, Carl Anderson. Except for this, she doesn't have any memories or information about him. The middle aged person standing on the side was her uncle, Thomas Ross. She has quite good memories of him, so she smiled at him. As for the last person, she didn't know anything about him. It's her first time seeing him.

She looked at the people in front of her. "I think I should come later."

Just as she was about to leave, she was stopped by her uncle Thomas.

"No need to leave, we were just talking about you, my dear." Thomas stepped forward and gave a light hug to the niece whom he hadn't seen in for a while. She looks quite different from the last time they met. She looks mature, confident, and fresh. It is completely different from the fearful, depressed and coward niece in his memory. "You look great. It's much better from the last time."

Violet understood that he was talking about her recent behavioral changes, but she had no answer to give except for smiling. "Don't I look better like this?"

Thomas didn't bother to think much about the reason why his niece changed so much in such a short period of time. But whatever, it's a good thing for both him and her. "Of course, you look better. Let me introduce you to someone."

Violet followed Thomas and stood behind him as he introduced the two people.

"This is Carl Anderson, a very famous junior in the industry. But now he will be your and mine boss." He then turned to the second person, "And this is Felix Gunther. Despite not having much prior experience, he's an extraordinary talent. He might be the music producer of your debut album."

Naked sarcasm. Violet couldn't help but lower her head. Any person with a little bit of common sense about Hollywood would understand that Thomas was mocking the other two people in the room. In Hollywood, seniority and experience matters a lot. Therefore, calling a person junior and boss at the same time, and inexperienced and talented at the same time is nothing short of nacked mockery.

It seems that the sweet uncle in her memory is not as she imagined. There is clearly a clash between him and the other two people, but judging from the silence of other two, it can be concluded that Thomas isn't just barking, but has something to rely on. Otherwise no sane person would taunt and mock his boss this openly.
