1 Character Creation
The dark world dissolved away in front of me as panels of blue and white took their place. Big black words appeared in the air above me that said "Create your character!" with a black box underneath with the single word "BEGIN." written across it. I tried to put my hand through it but quickly realized that there was no hand to be put on it I started to look around trying to find my body but it wasn't there. I started to panic when I noticed a small dot in my field of vision, I focused on that dot and my panic melted away replaced by curiosity.
The longer I focused on the dot the more solid it felt to me, I tried looking away from it and it moved with my vision. I looked at the "BEGIN." box again, this time with the small dot and the box lit up. "This must be how I interact with things." I thought. I left the dot over the box but it still didn't do anything. I was thoroughly confused. "What am I supposed to do next?" I questioned in my mind. Just as I had expressed that question a large question mark appeared in my vision. "System help." A young sounding female voice sounded. "To use the cursor, simply look at the item you wish to interact with and focus on it with intent."
The voice stopped and the question mark dissapeared. "With intent? What does that mean? Just think about what I want to do?" I had so many more questions but the system help didn't appear again. I looked back at the box once more allowing the "cursor" (as the system help had called it) to drift over it again. "Intent..." I pondered for a moment. "Well I guess my intent is to begin right?" Just then a small clicking sounded and the world fell away once again. This time replaced by many human sized capsules formed in a circle around me. In the center of the circle there was a many colored cat with stars covering it's body. "A NEW PLAYER!" The cat exclaimed.
I was shocked I didn't know cats could talk, then again I didn't quite know how I knew what a cat was. "You're here to create your new character right?" The cat said while rolling around on it's back. I wanted to say 'yes' but no sound came out. "OH! I guess you can't talk yet?" The cat continued. "In that case you should probably pick what body you're going to have." At that point one of the capsules opened. "Go on in!" The cat said cheerfully. So I moved towards the capsule and climbed in. As I did the doors closed back around me.
A screen then appeared in fron of me. With a question and some options.
GENDER?
MALE, FEMALE, NON BINARY, GENDERFLUID, AGENDER, BIGENDER, POLYGENDER, NEUTROIS, ANDROGYNE.
Were just some of the options that were available to me, there were more though. I didn't really have any concept of gender at that time though so I just chose the first option available to me. "Male." I thought and the system confirmed my choice. After my choice was confirmed it moved onto the next question.
VOICE?
It gave me about 30 options of voice and I chose one that was slightly higher than the mid range of the voices. Straight after I thought my choice the system confirmed it and moved to the next question.
RACE?
HUMAN, FAIRY, DRAGONBORN, ELF, DWARF, OGRE, BISPECIES, ETC.
I had no concept of race at the time either but Bispecies stood out to me so I decided to choose that. "YOU HAVE CHOSEN BISPECIES!" A message appeared in front of me. "YOUR FIRST HALF WILL BE HUMANOID, YOU MUST CHOOSE YOUR OTHER HALF!" The message continued. Following the message a huge list of animals appeared on the screen. If I used the cursor I could learn the characteristics of each animal. I clicked on a few.
PARROT: Huge colorful wings. SKILLS:Peck, Language comprehension.
CAT: Claws and ears. SKILLS: Scratch, Enhanced reflexes.
CHAMELION: Scaly skin and googly eyes. SKILLS: Camoflauge, advanced sight.
I kept scrolling down and looking at animals using the cursor until I found one that felt right to me.
MOUNTAIN GOAT: Horns, hoofed legs. SKILLS: Helmet head, Climb.
I made my selection and the question changed yet again.
APPEARANCE?
This time instead of a list a mirror appeared in front of you and a voice spoke to lead you through the steps to visualize your new appearance. I turned out to be a young looking man with fiery red hair, a bit on the shorter side, with pale skin and green eyes. My horns were twisted circles with striations all over them they were fully black except that they had an ombre to white at their sharp tips. I looked at them and thought that they wouldn't be any good for stabbing things but at least they looked cool. My legs had a backwards knee that started at mid thigh with black fur and white hoofs.
I didn't particularly understand why my goat legs started there instead of at the waist but the system quickly explained that it was so I could still maintain my humanoid genetals for reproduction in game. I didn't really understand that but I accepted and confirmed my appearance happy with what I looked like. The last question appeared.
CLASS?
The list wasn't very long but the options all seemed interesting.
ARCHER, MONK, SHIELD WIELDER, DUAL SWORD WIELDER, SPEAR WIELDER, ASSASSIN, HAMMER WIELDER, BEAST TAMER, MEDIC. I can use the cursor to see the details for each of them.
ARCHER: Uses bow and arrow to rain down damage from afar.
STR: 1 DX: 4 INT:3 CHA:2 HP:100/100 MP:75/75
MONK: Bare fisted warrior who uses meditation techniques to gain great destructive power.
STR:4 DX:3 INT:2 CHA:1 HP:400/400 MP:50/50
SHIELD WIELDER: The stalwart guardian capable to defending against large scale attack.
STR:5 DX:1 INT:3 CHA:1 HP:500/500 MP:75/75
DUAL SWORD WIELDER: Create massive damage attacks by always having a follow up not allowing enemies to regain footing.
STR:2 DX:3 INT:2 CHA:3 HP: 200/200 MP:50/50
SPEAR WIELDER: Medium range damager that keeps enemies from getting too close or charging.
STR:2 DX:5 INT:1 CHA:2 HP:200/200 MP:25/25
ASSASSIN: A dagger user adept at flanking and causing enemies to bleed out before they realize they've lost.
STR:1 DX:4 INT:4 CHA:1 HP:100/100 MP:100/100
HAMMER WIELDER: Powerful warrior connected to the earth it's crushing attacks will make enemies think twice before getting too close.
STR:2 DX:4 INT:3 CHA:1 HP:200/200 MP:75/75
BEAST TAMER: Uses a whip and buckler to fight. Tames animals to help them through spiritual connection to the beast.
STR:1 DX:2 INT:5 CHA:2 HP: 100/100 MP:125
HEALER: Uses inate light magic to heal self and party members,strong against the undead.
STR:0 DX:0 INT:6 CHA:4 HP:50/50 MP:150
"Wow." I thought as I looked my way down the list. "That's a lot to think about." I kept looking at each of them not absolutely sure on what I should pick. "Can I change later if I'm not happy with my choice?" System help answered that question for me. "No you can not change classes after having picked one in character creation, there are however subclasses, and specialties to choose from once you have leveled up a bit." I definitely felt a little dissapointed that I couldn't change later, but I did think that the sub classes might be pretty cool.
I looked over the list one more time and decided on the Hammer wielder class. I just thought that the connection to the earth part sounded cool. "Who knows it might even have some kind of innate skill I don't know about, and the stats seem pretty balanced." The system approved his choice and the walls around him went dark for a second before the doors of the capsule opened up to reveal the colorful cat once more.
"That looks much better!" The cat said. "I can actually see you." The cat smiled and I couldn't help but think how strange a smile looks on a cat. "So what's your name?" The cat continued.
"I don't have one." I reallised speaking out loud for the first time.
"Well that's ok let's get you one right quick." A drop down screen appeared in front of me. It was one of those random name generators that also allowed you to type your own name if you so choose. I couldn't think of any experiences that would allow me to make my own name so I was about to click random when the cat spoke up again. "What about Puerilec?" I thought about it and it wasn't bad but not great. "Could I just go by Rilec?" I questioned the cat.
"It's your name." Said the cat again with big grin that seemed to have hidden meaning behind it. I didn't pay any attention to the hidden meaning though and just smirked to myself. "Rilec." I said to the drop down screen. It immediately inputted the name into the typing box and saved it. Less than a second later a notification appeared in my site. "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!" It read in bold letters. "Child of The Gods." was the title of the achievment.
"What's this?" I questioned the cat.
"Just the basic achievement for creating your character." The cat responded slyly.
"Ok." I said taking the cat at it's word. "So what happens next?" I asked.
"Next, you begin your new life in Empires Order!" The cat said excitedly. At that moment a huge ornate door appeared in front of both of them. At the bottom were carved the many races of the world some of which I recognized some I didn't, they seemed to be climbing a huge tree that was divided in two by the part in the door. In the middle area there were many monsters and demons that blocked the humans path and seemed to be attacking them. Then at the top were 10 large beautiful people peacefully looking down at the scene below.
"What is Empires Order?" I asked the cat.
"It's just what the world is called by the immortals that created it. The mortals however have simply named it Empor." The cat laughed. "Mortals certainly have a way of simplifying things that is hilarious to me." The cat finished laughing at looked at me. "Well Rilec this is where we part ways, you must go to Empor, level up, have many wonderful adventures, and if you grow strong enough, one day you may take a seat in the throne room of the immortals." The door started to open at the cats words. A loud sound was enveloping the area.
"Wait!" I yelled. "Who are you?" The cat smiled and responded simply.
"You can call me Sera." Just then a strong wind picked me up and carried me through the door as it closed behind me the colors of the cat seemed to change and for a second I thought I saw a beautiful woman standing where the cat had been. It all happened so fast though that I couldn't properly see. The next moment I was in the sky and the ground was quickly appearing to get closer.
The ground got closer and closer, and I prepared for impact. I closed my eyes and covered my face with my hands, but the impact didn't come. I opened my eyes and I was floating about 6 inches off of the ground. As soon as I noticed that though I fell landing with a thud on my horns which thanks to my innate skill "Helmet head." It didn't hurt at all.
