1 The Start

"So...how is everything going with...you know?"

"Not too great, just recently a plague hit and now I'm losing people left and right...to be honest, I don't think I'll be able to hold on much longer!"

"You just got to give it time...just give it time and keep your followers alive, you know what's next for you once you...."

"I know...i know, as long as my core still stands I should be able to recover."

"That's the right attitude, just give it your all!"

'Just got to keep you alive and everything should solve itself in the end.' My core, the heart of my universe stood before my eyes, it's power keeping my whole domain alive was currently having a hard time just surviving.

It's once-massive root system now down to just enough roots to survive, it's height that once reached the limits of my domain sacrificed half of it's height to sustain what was left of it.

'Please...just hang in there and make it through this mess.' Just stay alive long enough so we can fix you. My followers we're doing their best to sustain the core while also doing their best to protect it from the hands of those fiends.

They showed up around the same time my core started getting sick, beasts of pure destruction, wherever they went nothing survived. It started off small just some of your average monsters and monster race that fought against my races.

It wasn't until my core really took a turn for the worse that they started to become more then what my races could handle, generals appeared from their side and led them to devour my domain until all that was left was my strongest races tasked to protect my core.

'Huh?' Something caught my eye around the border of my domain, a beast about the size of an average human and it's power level rivaling my own.

It walked up to the edge of my domain and just stood there, watching the walls of my domain like a piece of food on a plate, it took another step forward and I couldn't help but feel...fear!

It shattered the boundaries of my domain like it was glass and started making its way towards my core at a rapid pace. The planets he used to make his way to my core broke apart colliding with the surrounding planets and causing a chain reaction, and within the blink of an eye it stood before my core.

"So this is a domain of a mighty demigod, I wonder what happened to bring it to this point...oh wait that was me!"

It laughed manically while holding it's chest, it's voice sounded like glass braking and after getting a closer look it looked almost human besides the fact that a demonic aura was spreading from it. It's eyes were a ruby red and it's skin was pitch black while two horns grew from the sides of his head.

"Enough, so it was you who did all of this, the destruction, the mass murders, and for what?!"

"Why, why, quite the tone you have there, aren't you afraid of your death at my hands, and before you give my that crap about being immortal I...already know your weakness."

'No...' What do I do, I couldn't help but feel afraid, to want to run but it was of no use, I was bound to my domain and to my core.

"Hahaha, seems you finally understand your place, now move aside and let me do it the easy way!"

He raised both hands, long sharp claws extended from each finger nail, black feathered wings grew from his back until they rested on the ground from their sheer size.

With a menacing grin he took a step forwards and appeared right before my eyes, he swung his left hand towards my neck and I did my best to block the strike, the sword I used broke into pieces but I was able to gain some distance.

It was hard to hear but I picked up some of his muttering, it was in a language I never heard before and when he finished I felt a power like none other all around me.

Clanking sounds echoed all around while small disk like circles opened up. Pitch black chains shot out from the openings and I didn't have enough time before I was bound by the chains, I could feel the little bit of energy I held drain away from the contact of the chains.

His wings and claws retreated as he sauntered towards me, he raised his hand and one sharp claw extended from his finger. I was powerless and weak, he swiped his hand and I felt a stinging pain on my right cheek.

With his stupid grin still on his face he sauntered off towards my core, all I could do was watch as he reach the base of my core and raised his hand towards my core.

It was to late, the demon conjured flame from its palms and torched my core, i felt a piece of my soul burn as the world around me started to fade. 'I'm sorry...I was too weak to keep you alive long enough.'

The ruler of a domain was tied to their core, their souls were connected giving the ruler of the domain full authority of said domain, but when the core died the ruler was pulled down with it. I felt the last life of my domain crumble along with my core, monsters overwhelmed my race's and slaughtering them all, a single teardrop fell from my check as the last of my strength faded.

Centuries passed and with the first death of a demigod news spread far and wide of the demon strong enough to kill demigods. After some searching done by gods word spread that it wasn't just that one demigod but multiple demigods were facing this new threat.

The demon that killed the demigod was not the first of its kind but was the strongest, legends of days long past spoke of them and their strength but after some event their race seemed to have disappeared from The Realm and shortly after forgotten.

No longer are you safe, no one is, each day the demon grows in power and each century another demigod falls. The Realm is in dire need of those who have the strength to withstand the demon lord, will you be the one?

Over and over I rewatched the video of The Realm, a new game utilizing a new and improved virtual reality technology, VR for short and what was shown in the video is what capture the attention of more then half of the world.

The contents of the video showed a demigod forming it's core, a giant tree that looked awesome as fuck, and then it showed how the demigod used it's power to grow it's domain forming a small universe with a multitude of races, it even showed some of the wonders of it's domain.

But what really got everyone's attention was the demon at the end, the demigod stood no chance against it and ended up dying to it's hands along with everything else in his domain, and after everything in the domain completely died that demigod turned into a freaking demon!

"Just ten more painfully boring days before it comes out!"

I already signed up to be one of the first people to play the game and somehow with a stoke of luck got accepted. I will be one of the first thousand to play the game. In six more days I will receive my "Pod" as it was called and after four days of getting accustomed to the pod the game will show up in the game room.

The pod was like those full dive machines you would read about in books or novels, besides that nothing else was really know about it, like the technology used to make it and such.

"Anyways enough stalking the game, the sun already went down a couple hours ago, it's time for some sleep."

Yawning i laid down in my bed and set my alarm to 8:00 AM for work tomorrow at 10:00 AM, 'I may be an introvert but I still gotta make money.'
